Roller Coasters Life-Size Zyklon / Galaxi

Thanks to the ability to reduce friction on a per-coaster basis, I was finally able to make a life-size Zyklon / Galaxi type of coaster. I decided to use the "Gold Fever" as the best available 2-car option, despite the hinged cars. But anyway, it works. Only 16m tall on a 56m x 20m base. The supports are 100% custom and comprise 1100-odd parts, given this thing "very high" scenery even with its extremely austere "theming".

The stats below are with friction at 0.7. The ride experience is pretty close to the real thing.

Nice - what a classic ride and it looks great. I don't see this on your page???

Thanks! I haven't uploaded it yet because it still needs a few finishing touches, but it'll be there soon.

For my next trick, look for a life-size Maurer SC 2000. Track's already built, just gotta do the custom supports.

OK, it's up on the Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1359698132

REQUIRES Spooky, Adventure, and Studio DLCs.

REQUIRES coaster's friction slider set to 0.7 or it won't work, but this gives a realistic ride experience. 0.6 increases excitement by nearly a full point and makes it much more attractive to peeps, but then it's unrealistically fast.

Similarities to a real Zyklon / Galaxi:
  • Same height of lift and same size footprint.
  • Custom supports very closely approximate those of the real portable version.
  • Minimal track smoothing to give a ride similar to an old, well-used portable version that's been moved too many times.
  • Minimal theming similar to the portable ride.

Main differences from a real Zyklon / Galaxi:
  • Helix on lift hill end only has 540^ instead of 900^ due to vertical space constraints
  • Not much banking due to vertical space constraints but the tilting coaster cars make up for this.
  • Tilting coaster cars that look like mine carts, but this coaster works the best out of all possible options we have at present (I literally tried them all), so I used it.
  • No mesh of diagonal bracing between the vertical track supports. I tried adding them but they were too big--it looks better without them. Besides, without them, you can more easily repaint the supports with mass selection.
  • Transfer track is on the arrival end of the station instead of in the middle, but that's due to how stations work in PC.

Here's a view of the rat nest of custom supports. You can see why I left off the diagonal braces. This thing has over 1200 parts as it is.

Here's the transfer track:

The back side of the minimalist station. The "station" is really just a glorified debris shield hanging from track supports but again, this is a portable ride so the idea was to use as few trucks as possible. On the plus side, if you want a different look for your park, you don't have much pre-existing stuff to demolish :).

Enjoy!

Fisherman took this POS ride and totally pimped it out, to the point its own mother wouldn't recognize it. Of course, its mother dropped it off in a basket at the orphanage door so she wouldn't recognize it now anyway, but take that as an analogy for what Fisherman did to this thing.

Summary of the "Fishermanized" version's more interesting changes:

* "Invincible" Trains: Because they look way more like the real trains than the mine carts. Requires checking "allow more coaster swaps" in the settings menu. This makes the ride even older-school than before as now the peeps experience much less banking.
* Less Brutality: The zigzag around the bottom of the lift hill is considerably smoother now. Probably some other minor track changes, too.
* Better Fence: Not only is the perimeter fence taller, but it's also much better arranged in a smooth curve with way fewer and less-obvious overlaps.
* An Actual Station: Much expanded and way more stylish shelter for your peeps.
* General Beautification: More and brighter colors, way more lights, and better styling throughout, all tastefully done without being overpowering.

I really enjoyed watching Fisherman transform this poor ride into something quite impressive!

I really enjoyed working with you on this!! So much fun.

Here's the result:
