[Light- Hearted] What was your best rebuy to date?

Not serious, but fun:

Me in my Courier doing a little 'mat gathering' from those generous NPC's... Had jumped into a Scenario (unintentially - but that is another story) and was faced with a NPC 'conda - no way I could really take it down, but wondered how low before discrete retreat was called for, I had it down to 1 ring of shields and was lining up to thrust backward a little to get back on its tail. Hit boost instead of the reverse button and planted the courier near the rear of the ship. Hello rebuy screen :) But I did see the last ring drop in the final second...

(my reverse thrust button is above the boost...)

ETA: I forgot to mention - G5DD/Drags... 750m/s boost

There was the time I had a combo button for landing gear and boost early in my career. For some reason, this sounded like a good scheme until I faceplanted my fully loaded Type-6 on the back of the station wall attempting to land. Turns out, Type-6s were hotrods before engineering was even a thing.

There was the time before I payed attention to the g-rating of planets I was landing on, up until that fateful day I smashed my poor Python into the surface of the planet.

But just last week I was doing some smuggling in a Cutter (please stop laughing) and I forgot to turn off the docking computer and it took over and did some interestingly bad things while my shields were still down as I just came out of silent running. I decided to take over and go back out of the station and STILL DIDN'T DISABLE THE DOCKING COMPUTER. Manage to get outside the station with about 15% hull and cut the throttle. Auto-dock takes over again and drives me right into the exterior station wall, apparently unaware that I've exited the station since it last tried to engage. Eject! Eject! Eject! I may have been drinking that night, too.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Took my Cutter to Robigo once to do a few runs. Loaded it up to the gills with passenger cabins and even ditched my shield generator. I didn't judge my landing very well and got caught on the interior station mesh near the landing pad. Dunno what it even was....got the wing stuck on a lightpole or something. I was dead in seconds.

Once past the rebuy screen I flew all the way back to Robigo, only this time with a shield generator. Had to do more runs than I wanted just to cover my rebuy.

Old style mining in a T9. Cargo nearly full of the P type metals. Phone rang, so quit to main menu while I was speaking. Restarted game, Fired off a prospector limpet, suddenly pirates spawn on me; I'd forgotten they'd do that. Try to run as mass-locked by the ring, shields going down. Clear mass lock on 90% hull. Hit the high-wake, 'cannot comply' as cargo hatch open. Close hatch, 50%. Cannot comply, hardpoints deployed. 40%. I was curious why I was fleeing so badly, cargo hatch explained it. High wake, watch hull disintegrate, boom just as the orange bars filled it.

Brought my second Corvette (after selling the first) , and rather hastily outfitted it for AX CZs.
39mil rebuy, but it's a Corvette, I can just jump out, right?
All outfitted, mostly engineered (kept the old modules), off I went.

Killing scouts was easy, but 2 Basilisks soon jumped in.
I decided to continue my fight, despite never killing a Basilisk.
Eventually I lost shields, but I had good armour. I kept fighting.
70%. All good.
50% hull. Ok, maybe think about jumping out soon. I start boosting away.
30% hull. Yup high wake set, charging...
25% hull. "FSD Malfunction".
20% hull. "FSD Online...FSD Charging"
15~% hull. (Full panic mode) "FSD Malfunction" @-£&_@@!!!.
5% hull. I lock the nearest Basilisk to see what sort of lead I had.... 1km. And closing. Yes, my Corvette is slower than an interceptor, by alot.

Eject Eject Eject

39 mil down the drain.

I never even took out a single heart. Lol

I put the Corvette away after that, and that is where it remains to this day. :p

I had just finished a smuggling run in my Python and was heading off from my landing pad. I have a habit of boosting through the mailslot when leaving stations, and USUALLY I make sure no one is in my way.

This time, I was doing it absentmindedly and I boost THROUGH one ship and right through a second ship, both of them exploding immediately. My size 3 shields were then melted by the station and I was dead before I even processed my double ship kill boost ram.

I forget what ships they were; I think a Hauler and Sidey? Had to have been small ships. Paid my rebuy, took off a bit more carefully, and went about my day.

Last CG, at the Guardian site...
Inbound Rescue Keelback, good jump range, weak as a kitten.
Drops in, quick scan for grief...
Wait! What's that?
Wanted Conda shooting at folk on the ground!
Protect the innocent!
I am unarmed, full pips to engines, ramming speed...
Witnessssssss!
Boom, Keelback rebuy. Job done.

Except.
It was some poor chap who accidentally picked up a fine.
He was taking out Sentinels for the people in SRVs.

Oops!
Apologies Commander... :D(y)

Does my 10th one in a row in my fully loaded Anaconda which actually needed the loan to get everything back count?

The reason I ask was it was back in the shoot as many missiles and limpets as you can Beta, 2.4?

Was doing rescue missions. An explosion on entering the station wedged me between the wall and some debris. My ship got stuck and I could not get myself out. Between the wall and the debris my Shields and hull got depleted at high speed.

First time I had died in at least 200 hours. First time I saw the new rebuy screen lol

I have a Type-10 fitted exclusively with gimballed frags which is (or was) stationed at Vesper-M4 to kill the ever respawning T9 at the unauthorized installation there.
The system is anarchy, after 3.3 I guess the T9 is no longer there, so I decided to kill at least some Belugas coming out / going in the starport to get some stuffz™.

Seems like I did it a bit too close to the starport, as I seemingly hit it with a frag pellet, and suddenly my world exploded in reverb laser fire.
My Type-10 has pretty good stats for a pure PvE vessel, > 2000 mj / integrity.
That was just enough shield and hull for me to figure out something was wrong, wondering, trying to tuuuuuuuuuuurn away and then booooost away and then bamm.

Rebuy 😣

edit.
this one was great too facepalms

My Federal Corvette, after a grueling CZ session, thinking my 9% hull will be more than enough to high tail it out of there.
Well, it was enough for the jump but popping out in front of the star grilled that remaining 9 down to a well done, crispy 0.

I was mad but at the same time relieved. I always dreaded the first destruction of my flagship. The fear was unwarranted
however, because I learned alot about her strengths and weaknesses that fine day.

In fact I suggest everyone take their ships to the limit every now and then. I takes the edge off any future situation.

During a 'scan the beacons at this angry, angry base' mission I may possibly have slightly panicked and maybe, just maybe, slid off a ramp and got my SRV so firmly wedged that not even Angry Base could blast me out...I had to self destruct. Not my finest hour :)
