Light ON/OFF Indicator - and Upgraded Lighting

We never know if our lights are on. Would be nice to have some sort of in cockpit indicator like our gear etc.

Also I propose we have several tiers of lighting available to our ships which can be upgraded to increase the power and distance our lights are effective. It is needed in dark areas especially with asteroids.

So basically you could add more lights like some people add banks of lights to their jeeps/trucks.

lights seem to have only 50 meter range which I like to use to tell me that I'm close enough to the object. other then that I dont use them unless I need to flash someone I think is going run into me. when is make like a camera flash sound your lights are one.

It's easy to tell if lights are on by the sound it makes when hitting the button, however i'd appreciate increased range and some kind of indicator, yes. Also, it would be awesome if i could control the direction of the light a bit by moving my head, maybe like gimballed weapons.

More powerful lighting would be helpful too..

Yeah lights are great for mining and picking up cans. The range should be able to be increased with certain internal compartment upgrades.

I've always felt that the on/off indicator should be with the mass locked section, where the FSD Cool down is now. I would have like to have seen the FSD cooldown counter in the dash next to core temp as a curved bar graph or even where the drive charging meter is. As of right now it's very small and not that noticeable and you really could use it when trying to evade... but we were talking about lights.

What about having an upgrade module for floodlights, have the existing lights be something you can upgrade in different ways, or even sell/remove for some weight reduction. Bigger lights should have both power and weight penalties, of course, so it would be an upgrade that only people needing them would do.

Yes it would be great if they had a bit more range. Currently, they only illuminate an object about 5 milliseconds before you crash into it.

Maybe lighting could be tied to and remembered for different flight modes; normal flight, land gear down, cargo scoop open, silent running, weapons deployed. This would also help telegraph what you are doing to other players (you could then deceive them by playing on their expectations and overriding the lighting mode you are using) .

Stronger lights would be nice yes, but there is already a place to check. Not on the HUD, but on the right-hand monitor. But having Gear, Lights and such on the HUD could be usefull indeed.
