Witch measurement of space would you prefer if Frontier gave you a chose to choose between them? the commonly know Light year based on how long light travels huge distances? or the metric system? just say petameters instead of quadrillion meters. use this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_prefix and you can continue to use the same system for huge distances. Or if you want to go old school you can do astronomical units. 1 AU is like 500 light seconds. it seems to make large light second numbers less huge but its not good for measuring large distances like the distance of stars. me personally like the metric system since you just use prefixes to shrink numbers instead of reinventing a new measurement system. and you can use it for small and large distances.

I prefer light-based measurements for distances that we cover at near-luminal or superluminal speeds.
If it's distances that we usually cover in normal flight or at really slow supercruise speeds, I think metric units are better.

I think lots of digits are less complicated than lots of prefixes, too, so I would prefer if Mm's were replaced with Km's in supercruise.

Don't think this poll is particularly useful because I like it the way it is: smaller distances measured in Mm and stepping up to LS and LY for .

Problem with sticking with metric all the way is two-fold: first is unfamiliarity, in that LY are commonly used for larger distances, and second is that it requires that people remember know their SI prefixes up to a stupid level.

Speed of light, of course. I would also hereby request that the AU get replaced by Ls/Ly in the system map, currently orbits are described in terms of AU.

this wasn't really meant to be a serious thread but it would be cool if frontier let us select different measurement systems if we wanted too that would be a cool small feature. i dont really want them to replace anything but just have more options.

I vote for the ability to toggle unit systems from the right side panel. I miss AU from Frontier. Keep having to convert 500ls to 1au mentally. Hard on the old brain. :)
.
Still, I made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...
