Like flying sex...

I'm sure a bunch of people here already have one, and that there have probably been a bunch of similar threads, but I can't contain myself.

My Imperial Clipper's maiden voyage out of Nu, and just in time for the discount too. So happy right now; she handles like a dream, but I need a name.

Congrats Commander...some else around here said that ships should always have feminine names...but If I flew a clipper, I'd probably call it 'Cutty Sark' ...at any rate, r+ for you and your new Clipper

Grat's man!

I also took advantage of the sale on clippers and I have a question for Clipper owners.

I just started a month ago in ED and have a pretty well kitted Viper I've been using for NPC bounty farming. Today I wanted to see what the clipper was like and put on a 6B Power Plant, a 6A Distributor and better FSD and headed out. I got interdicted pretty soon and said "OK. good a test as any" and submitted. I was in a little piece of space with a Master Python who shredded my shield in about 3 seconds. I ran away as fast as I could and got out of there with 83% hull intact.

Now It seems to me that a 22mil ship should, even with the 6E shield be a little sturdier than that. But really my only frame of reference is my Viper in RES's.

Is my Clipper going to be a glass cannon till I get 6A shields and SCB's or was it just that the Master Python that interdicted me was a tougher enemy than a Master Python you would encounter in a RES.

That is your clipper. There are many others more or less like it, but that one is yours!!!

I blew my new one up on her maiden voyage out the mail-slot. So, keep your insurance paid up!

Probably this. I know in my Python kitted for 280 Million buy, out classes a clipper pretty badly. One on one a clipper is no threat. They only thing they have on my python is speed. Which is usually deferred to what you outlined happened in your post.

Your clipper will be a glass cannon even after you get 7A shields. Of the "more capable" ships in the game (Clipper, Vulture, FdL, Python, Anaconda) the clipper has the worst shields by far. In addition, the clipper is as fat as a type 9 and longer - meaning you'll get hit much more often than a vulture or fdl.

Now it makes up for all of this by being almost as fast as a cobra, so it's not a bad ship by any means - but you will always be the "glass cannon" of the lot.

Good stuff...thanks. I didn't know there was a 7A shield....51mil..Ouch!

OK.....the clipper will likely be a trader for a while.

I hate the Clipper. So ugly, I hate sleek stuff.Python has better cockpit and overall look :p (I'm serious).

You're not serious, you're Federal. :D
I haven't flown the Python yet but I love it already. It'll be some time before I own one as I don't sell my ships. The Clipper is a joy to fly and currently the pride of my fleet. She's called TORRE D'AVORIO.
