Limit on stored ships?

another different question. What do you do with all the component (trash, LOL) collected that you scarf up into the Cargo Bay after Combat?

If they are materials, you keep them in your private storage to use with engineers. If they are general cargo, either dump it or sell it at a station. Personally I have any and all cargo prohibited from being gathered. I only gather materials after combat. Cargo can, will and does get one interdicted a lot, so unless you really need it for something special like an engineer's request. I wouldn't bother.

What I have must be materials, which I gathered after combat, since nothing shows up in the Cargo inventory. Let's say I have this stuff gathered on a certain ship and I change ships and find an engineer. Does the material follow me no matter what ship or does it stay with the ship it was scooped up on?

If and when you happen to have cargo and want to switch ships. The ship your switching to MUST have a cargo rack the same size as the amount of cargo on the ship your switching from, already installed.

ANY and all materials which are in your private cargo area, remains with you regardless of which ship your in or switch to.

Materials cannot be sold or giving away like cargo can. Materials in general are only utilized by engineer's and the new alien broker's.

Yep, not really one answer to that question. Depends on how much engineering you want to do. But it doesn't hurt to have lots and it's not like it takes up any weight.

Engineering gives your modules a bunch of (mostly) improved characteristics. Engineering requires materials, with the higher grade engineering taking higher grade (rarer) materials.

Just collect them all as you go. By the time you get to engineer a module/weapon, you should have the materials you need. Better to check before you travel all the way to an engineer though..

EDIT: materials are more valuable than credits, although you cannot exchange one for the other
