Limpet Collectors Driving me Crazy!!

Here's the rub...crack an asteroid...surrounded by rocks begging to go into my cargo hold and these collectors just sit there doing jack! I've tried, flying close to the floating rocks, no targeting anything when they get created, launching them before mining, during mining, after mining and they just sit on my backside...occaisionly, one will ping off when newly created, drop it off and then sit when there are other targets around. Such a simple mechanic and without them working properly, mining game loop is dead. I am getting a message no valid targets when they get created, but the chucks of diamonds are litterally floating in front of me.

Ive got A5 and A3 limpets,
Heavy 9 ship

Rant endith...salvation required!

Might want to check your ignore list heheh

I've seen that behavior in two circumstances:

Case #1 (bonehead): I manged to put all the fragment types on my ignore list.

Case #2 (bug, easily reproducible):
  • Cargo is full
  • Refinery is full
  • I jettison limpets (but do not abandon them)
  • Refinery deposits mined material in my now-space-available cargo
  • Active Limpets begin to recover fragments and the non-abandoned limpet canisters, but...
  • As soon as an active Limpet collects a non-abandoned limpet canister, it bugs out.
  • Collector Limpet Controller now becomes bugged. Existing limpets will no-longer collect, and no prospector/collector limpet controller will launch further limpets. The sound effect will play, and the UI will animate as though the launcher is still working, but no limpet will actually spawn. I have only ever been able to correct this by logging out and then back in (which always corrects the problem).

Also probably goes without saying, but be sure you aren't targeting a fragment when you fire off a collector limpet. I believe doing it that way will cause the limpet to collect only the targeted object and then self-destruct, rather than continue retrieving fragments until none remain. Could be wrong about that, but I seem to recall that's how it works.

Here's a picture of the ignore list when mining.

Yes you are right, but that won't stop the other limpets from collecting, 'IF' the OP has not got any of the above already mentioned.

I had another case of this bug.
You have space for one unit of material, for example iron, and you have 3 units to collect from an asteroid. Your three limpets go and pick them up, one delivers it, you get full cargo notification, at that point the other two will just sit there doing nothing until they expire or the material expires.

When this occurs, can you de-power the controller and then launch new limpets? I ask because when the bug I sited earlier triggers, the only way I can regain use of any limpet controllers is to relog.

Just checking, you do have a refinery and cargo space? Might sound like a urine take type question, and it is NOT, but have to establish the facts first, then further assistance can be applied
Solved! Somehow I managed to place diamonds on the ignore list...idiot!

Your first guess was spot on...thanks!
