Link sensor grade to gimbal efficency

We can't have gimbals and turrets coming any closer to fixed for dps.
The idea was shouted down.
On my small combat ships I prefer A with a small LR.
On the big combat ships. I go A with a small wide angle.
YES I have no clue.

I'd go a step further and have gimbal jitter related to ship signature, which is affect by sensor grade, emissive rounds, and range to target, but also by the ship you're targeting. In other words, cooler, stealthier ships should induce more jitter when targeted.

Then again, my ship is so stealthy that you'll never get a lock on it, LOL ;)
They already do that. If the ship is running cool gimballs have a hard time locking on.

This is a slight reminder to FD that this change would give higher grade sensors more of a role to play and add more depth to outfitting a ship.

It could be that class determines features- example B rated being less prone to chaff or experimental sensor spoofing (at the cost of weight).
... I recall (from memory) in the past this being discussed by Sandro, in particular higher grade sensors lowering the jitter in gimballed weapons. And even rumours of possible testing in one of the betas. Didn’t happen though.

Flimley

But the sensor range already does that. At the very edge of detection range the gimbals almost don't gimbal at all anymore. That's why I have A rated long range sensors on my main combat ships. They even keep targets locked that freeze over after using a heatsink. Gimbals still have almost no tracking anymore when that happens.
