Linking xbox one to Frontier account

I've done a quick forum search but I can't find a clear answer to my question.

I was a kickstarter backer of ED back in the day and I've just bought the xbox1 early access version.

When I load up the xbox version it asks me to link my account to a frontier account. If I do this I know that 2 things will happen

1. I will get a credit in the store because I already own the PC version of the game.
2. I will start to play the game in the xbox beta galaxy, not the current PC "live" galaxy.

This is fine.

However recently it's been stated that CMDR's in the beta galaxy will carry their credits / ranks / reputation etc over to the real galaxy when the xbox version is live. Now I know that PC and xbox players won't be instanced together, but we'll all be in the same galaxy once the xbox version is live. I'd assumed that the process would be similar to when the Mac version was released, that there would effectively be a wipe at the end of beta and new players would start from scratch after launch, existing players would be able to log on and continue their game from the PC version.

This suggests that there are 2 separate saves linked to 1 account.

Does this mean that I won't be able to play my PC save on my xbox?

Hmmm, I thought that Xbox and PC players could play together? That's why I created a new account on the Xbox and didn't link it - so my son & I could play at the same time together on two unlinked accounts. Have I misunderstood it?

My understanding is that, no PC and Xbox players won't see one another in game. I believe that this is mostly due to the fact that Xbox updates have to go through Microsofts QA process and Frontier don't want to delay the PC / Mac release of a new update for weeks / months whilst they wait for approval from MS.

As mentioned, I am sure the PC and XBOX One galaxies exist seperately. They will share certain information, such as power play updates, who is in control of which systems etc. But Xbox one players and PC players will each by in their own galaxy and never meet.
