Hardware & Technical Links in Control Panal etc not working

Hey - looking for some hardware advice!

Recently noticed links on control panal and such like (ie. uninstall program link etc) have stopped working. About same time Windows Media Player stopped recognising a heap of file types like Avi, WMP and so on.

I've run sfc/ scannow and chkdsk /f but no errors showing up.

What would folks suggest as a next step? All up to date as far as windows updates/driver updates etc.

Have you recently installed new part(s) / drivers / programs ?
If so, you could try to revert back to a restore point prior to that install.

thanks for that. tried that and no cigar alas. then I removed E D and guess what - success! Reloaded and everything seems fine now. will report as a bug...
