Real World Theme Parks Liseberg plans for 2017-2018 - wow!

Liseberg is a very beautiful park but so far still "low-themed" but it has been changed the latest years and is going to change more. One of the areas, the area with the popular wooden coaster "Balder" is going to turn into a Norse mythology area, starting with a big ride called Loke (Loki) in 2017.

But what excites me more: B&M drop coaster for that area in 2018. wheee.

We got Helix in 2014 and now 2018 another big nice one? thank you. ;D

Yeah I saw the stream yesterday! [woah]
The new old mythology theme they starting on "The other side" sounds great and the Loke ride looks awesome. Like an upgraded version of Spinrock it replacing. I remember I saw this kind of ride in the Ylvis talk show. They had an interview with a celeb while riding it. And it is in Planet Coaster as well. (The Sundial) [happy]

And for 2018. I agree with people the "Kanonen"-coaster is kind of short and don't really compete with the"Helix"-coaster anymore. Still it is sad it going to be replaced. it is my first upside-down coaster ride. Yeah I took my upsidedown-in-coasters-virginity quite late. Just 3 years ago. Still, I guess it is forced because of the new theming to replace it. I read different reviews of the new coaster with that drop they going to replace it with. It leems cool but some people said the original in USA they going to copy ain't that long and thrilling. [bored]
I hope the new one in Liseberg will be better! So far they've been working hard on the quality.

I've never consider "Balder" to be an old Viking god name. The big wooden coaster at Liseberg have no theming whatsoever. But now, they using the mythology about the epic battle between Balder and Loke, were the Loke-ride going to symbolic smash into Balder-coasters wall, representing that very fight going on forever. That is so cool! I hope they do some kind of light effect on it during night time. Light a thunder light when Loke comes close up. [big grin]

Yes I think it is a nifty idea with the Loke and Balder battle. Originally the Balder's name come from the area's name, it was called "Balder's hage" before. So that's the way. And Balder is indeed Norse mythology name so it is genius idea to spin on that one! From the generic rough wood/greenery idea to mythology, it is perfect.

(swedish info..)

I have never liked Kanonen much because it hurt my neck when I ride it. The support bars going over the sides hurt my neck. but Kanonen is not alone in that, many rides with that type of supports I also dislike.

Hopefully Andreas will be sure the Drop coaster will be nice, he had strong demands with Helix. I have never ridden that type of ride so it will be fun for me.

Loop-virginity? Lost that when I was 5-ish with Lisebergsloopen. It scared me so bad I did not want to go again until I was about 10-11.. (yeah, security wasn't as stringent back in time... it wasn't height, but age... and age can be lied about...)

I rather like Spinrock as it give me much thrill in my belly. I think many rides lack in this aspect. I rode a similar ride to Loke in Idaho but I thought it was tamer than Spinrock.... So I am wary. Hopefully it will be trimmed to be thrilling too. Mechanica was a fail on that aspect for me.
