I'm going to leave birds off of here for now, but will include coastal animals since we've got some now.

Habitat animals:

White/Black African Rhino. One of the two is a must
Meerkat, this is the only other habitat animal besides the rhino that I say is a must.

The rest aren't "musts" but definitely high priority

California Sea Lion
Asian Small Clawed Otter seems to be the dominant request for another otter, but some other otter species.
Moose
Cougar/Puma/Mountain Lion
Amur/African Leopard
Capybara
Alpine Ibex

Exhibit animals:

The king/Indian Cobra. Really, that's the only one. This is probably the world's most iconic and recognizable snake (cobras in general I mean). They have to be included. like the rhino and meerkat, they are a "must".

Personally, I'm also greatly pulling for a jackal, wolverine, crested porcupine, wombat, coyote and sloth but I don't necessary see them as quite as popular requests.

Now that this most recent pack is out of the way, I'd put the most needed as Alpine Ibex, California Sea Lion, Capybara, Moose, Mountain Lion/Cougar, a second otter and some kind of "true" leopard. Most of these are pretty high up on my want list, but they're not necessarily my top 7 most wanted animals. A chameleon and a cobra for Exhibit animals. I'd give honorable mention to another small cat like a Lynx and a second rodent like the Beaver or Porcupine. I know, we haven't even gotten our first rodent yet, but there is definitely room for diversity.

I think we are still missing:
  • California Sea Lion or other sea lion species
  • Gibbon species
  • Badger species
  • Capybara
  • I think its obvious we are going to get more NA animals - maybe Moose, Coughar, Beaver, Wolverine and Alligator would be great
  • Tasmanian Devil, Crested Porcupines and more unique smaller animals
  • More ground dwelling birds such as Secretary Birds, Cranes or Spoonbills, Ibises, Emus....
  • Some European animals - some kind of deer seems like an obvious choice, Red Fox, Boar, Ibex or Lynx.
  • Flying birds obviously
  • Leopard - not my choice but people seem really want this one.
There is obviously so much more they could add, so I hope they will keep them comming. Other popular choices like Scimitar Horned Oryx, Reds River Hog, Maned Wolf, Howler Monkey...Man...we NEED more.

Waterfowl and small ground birds would be my choices for what is the most "needed". I could live with the exclusion of most of the other stuff, but besides flying birds, european and northamerican animals they are by far the biggest hole in the roster that would be rather "easy" to fix on the side.
Some examples include pelicans, swans, ducks, geese, turkeys, grouse, capercaillie, another pheasant, etc.
Not all of them would be needed, but atleast for me it is a priority that atleast some of them come into the game rather sooner then later.
If i could pick i think i would choose the black swan for australian representation, the turkey for american and the common pheasant for eurasian representation, but all other kinds of birds are also welcome

My choices for essential animals we need:

  • a gibbon species
  • leopard (I would prefer Amur, Persian or North Chinese)
  • capybara
  • another rodent species like beaver, porcupine or praire dog
  • Tasmanian devil
  • wombat, wallaby or tree kangaroo (or all of them :p )
  • fossa
  • sifaka
  • a baboon species (I would prefer Hamadryas baboon or the gelada)
  • Californian sea lion
  • European lynx
  • Alpine ibex
  • moose
  • Przewalski's wild horse
  • a true deer species
  • at least one species of waterfowl (a swan species would be a good choice)
  • a crane species or other big ground dwelling bird like white stork
  • another ratite (emu or rhea)
  • petting zoo animals (maybe one sheep, one goat and a pony or cattle)
  • flying birds (of course)

I would also love to have a hoofstock species from Central Asia like takin or blue sheep.
And there could be so many more options like a second South American monkey species, maned wolf, dromedary camel, addax or gerenuk but I limited the list to the species above.
