List Something You Love About PZ

I come onto this forum to moan a lot and nag Frontier but I do appreciate their strengths and talent...thought I'd make a post about pinpointing something in PZ that you really love/think is awesome.

I'll go first - I really like putting the mud baths into every habitat (even if an animal doesn't get enrichment from it). Every animal gets messy when they walk through em and I just enjoy seeing this happen. I wish they could get dusty and messy from the type of terrain you put down actually, say if an animal rolls on their back or skids along the ground etc... Or if a polar bear lays down on the snow, it would be so great to see the snow stick to its fur...hope we can see that one day.

For now, muddy animals are a nice touch and make things feel a bit more real and a bit more alive.

Cool idea!

I'm totally in love with the casowary. It's perfect.
Really difficult to find something to share here that I love about PZ, because I love the whole game so much. I love the building aspect (although there are so many things missing or even annoying), I love the animals (although some are not as accurate as they should be), I love the general atmosphere which is so easy going and relaxing.
And I love this community, which is so much different from other gaming communities, helpful and good-natured. Didn't know what I missed in all the other games until I learned how to play PZ. ❤

the soundtrack, the workshop, the animals, I could go on for quite some time. I'm going to go with my personal favorite animal action, the red panda standing on its hind legs to appear "bigger and more threatening" just like in real life. Classic red panda pose, would not have been the same animal without it.

So many things, it is hard to choose one. I am going to say the sounds and the music in game, it is so relaxing and brilliant, it fits the game perfectly. (I also always praise Frontiers trailers, these are also always top tier).

Does PZ has some thing that I would like to see improved? Yes, but what doesnt. But overall it is one of my most favourite games and I think the whole dev team did amazing job with it.

I always love it when I discover a small Detail that makes the World a bit more realistic. I just discovered a Woman that was holding her Child's Hand while walking. It looked really cute and I didn't knew it's in the Game.
I do also love it that even though Animals have Plant Preferences, it's possible to use other Plants and they are still happy. This allows for way more realistic Enclosures in Zoos that are located in the temperate Biome or even colder Areas

This would be great especially for Polar Bears (never seen one with such perfectly white Fur in Captivity so I would've loved Variations) because Frontier claimed that the Color Differences are just because of Dirt in the Fur and I would love more realistic Polar Bears

Thanks for reminding me. I think I saw it once in a Trailer or something. I'll get them soon for the first Time and now I'm excited to see this in the Game

Love this positive thread!

I love the building system. I especially love the construction items which can be used in many different ways - a lot of the times I see pictures and videos and I'm always mindblown how players utilize the pieces. I just love the limitless creativity this game offers.

Oh and the workshop. So many great creations. I especially love things like mosaics, education signs, fences, etc. People come up with most amazing things and I generally download those tiny bits that I can't make myself, but add a whole lot to the zoo. I try to build everything myself.

I love a lot about Planet Zoo, but narrowing it down to three would be:
  • The sounds - really, the sound department deserves a price or something.
  • Building. Yes, it has a learning curve. But learning it is satisfying, I love the feeling of concentration I have with and and then looking at how far I've come already comparing to the start. An ongoing journey and it's more like crafting than gaming. Unleashed creativity!
  • The community. Most of them are so kind and supporting, that I call some members of the planco fam friends that live in the distance by now.

In addition the the many great things mentioned, what I love is that there are so many different playing options: the different modes, the community challenges, something for breeders, builders, animal lovers, something for when your inspired to create your own stuff, something to just follow instructions (Career mode) without taxing your brain or creativity too much when you’re tire but still want to play, the workshop items, etc.

I love that, in the tundra biome anyway, you can make it snow and it naturally falls on everything and you can have a beautiful crisp sunny winter day with blue skies and snow.

I remember in ZT2 having to get white elevated paths and replace the existing ones and get custom snow covered foliage and it was a real hassle to put it all together. So I really appreciate snow in the game!

Although I do wish we could control the temperature manually so we could make the same snowy landscapes in other biomes. It can snow of course but it won't stay on the ground once it stops snowing...

Planet zoo is the game I’d been hoping for since the zt2 days. I like the ability to make realistic enclosures with almost no limitations to what you can build. I also love watching the animals and the little Easter eggs frontier throws in. Obviously there’s too much to list and frontier has done a great job giving the community another much needed zoo game.

I love the animals, especially the cats, and the ability to take amazing screenshots in environments I crafted entirely on my own, being able to fine tune every aspect of a backdrop and making really pretty scenic ground level views to take pictures of the glorious animals, nothing like it in any other game. <3 I also love the snow and the sound of the rain as it falls, I enjoy that when your inside buildings the sounds of rain is lessened and when your deep in caverns the atmosphere changes drastically, even the sounds, it is great <3 so much great things about this game, I could go on forever. :) <3

Honestly, it's hard to pinpoint just a single thing I love about the game. As someone who grew up playing the original Zoo Tycoon and then ZT2, I've wanted a game like this for a very long time. Everything I wish ZT2 had, Planet Zoo has. I really appreciate the freedom and available building items when designing enclosures and structures. I think an underrated feature is the map size as well, maps were never big enough for me in ZT2 (especially when trying to make a zoo with all the animals) but the maps in Planet Zoo are massive!

And the animals... the animals are beautiful. I know people sometimes have a little grumble at the realism of some of the species models, and I can understand that viewpoint. However, I absolutely appreciate that there can be a trade-off between being 100% true to life and artistic style and at any rate, personally I think Frontier did an amazing job overall with the animals. They are so much fun to watch and just enjoy too.

There's so much more I could say. I've pumped so many hours into this game since I got it and I'm still finding new things I love in it. Also, props for the positive thread, it's really nice to see!

Indeed. The love for detail is absolutely amazing!

Money-wise a good investment for me as well. I don't play that much atm (tbh - barely) but overall very glad I bought it.

The customisation options are truly astounding. To echo others, everything I ever wanted in a zoo game (excepting a few animal species) is in this game.

I think the species argument will stay for many years - but I don't think you can expect a game with this much detail anytime soon.
