listen to people instead of majorities

the problem with frontier only giving credit to majority groups, is that they will end up (very probably) indulging allways the same - majority !
instead what i propose in the name of equality is that they REALLY start listening to everyone even solo players, add random content suggested by random people and the game wontbe so biased in nature and whole!
anyways jsut a suggestion for your metaphorical trash-can! :3

I have seen so many suggestions that just a single player wants that FDEV would be forever just adding features that one person uses. The reason FDEV listen to the majority of players is that those as a group are the people who pay for the game. A single player doesn't make a significant contribution so losing a single player because a feature they want in a game isn't put in is fine, losing a large group is a problem. I am afraid that's how the world works.

single players dont contribute? i know what you mean! it was allways obvious to me, that reality (frontier couldnt care less about single individuals) in fact its not outside my original statment! but a real truth is that those large groups are just aglomerates of single players! and if what th elone single player pays is never going to be relevant to frontier then they have a lousy marketing aproach doomed to take down the company(in fact i believe this company is one single superior sametheme-game away of being completly deserted)! im not saying fedev should pick all the requests of all or even one player! im talking about how they pick things! example of context - they seem to pick alot of ideas from large groups in place of waaaaaay obviously better ones that arent that famous! (prob dont even get through to them)
so what im just saying is: when fdev is looking for a new contet ideas relevant to the game, they should seriously look at ALL options and then choose the best ones! and equality is a delusion but is it so wrong to ask for it? lols anyways this was way more a vent than a request(the post) x'D

^^ i.e 2.75 million copies sold, and only 220,350 members are signed up to this forum, let alone active posters....

Yup. Beta participation should obvs be listened to, but for anything else we'd need a poll on the launcher. All else is hot air.

That said, the devs should have a clear strategy and not be reactionary.

single players dont contribute?

No I didn't say that, it's quite clear what I said, I'll repeat it here for clarity.

A single player doesn't make a significant contribution

You see how that works? You make up stuff that I didn't say, then I quote myself not saying the thing you made up.

It's quite clear that putting in a feature that only a single player wants or desires is tantamount stopping development on the game as a whole because there are thousands and thousands of players wanting their particular thing. I could list a lot but just a few will do.

There was that player wanted Hearthstones in the game, just like WoW, so you could jump back to your home station any time, nice.

I could list endless fast travel requests but there was that player who wanted planet side stargates, just like that show, now what was it called? Oh yes, Stargate, because that's what Stargates are, spinning metal thingies on planets that open gates to other Stargates on other planets. Ignoring of course the entire SciFi history of stargates and the fact that that particular iteration of the stargate was the IP of a particular movie and television studio, so lets have them, please.

Individual requests are fine, you can make all the requests you want, but unless that request makes sense in the ED universe, is wanted by a lot of players, and makes sense in game development terms then it's simply not going to happen because one player, in the grand scheme of things, is not that important.

I sometimes wonder if it would be better for FD to not listen to anyone. If they didn't spend so much time running around trying to please everyone and just did what they planned from the start we might have a more stable, coherent game now.

The quickest way to hack people off is to give them what they ask for.

So do you have any examples of that FDev is not listening to individual players? but only to majority groups?

Becuse do not confuse listening with replying to....

My first demand would be that the developers completely focus the game on PvP, none of this namby-pamby PvE stuff, no missions so boring that paint drying is fascinating to watch!

Rally round me my brothers to bring this great aspiration to fruition! PvP for EVERYONE!

(I'm not sure how well Player vs Planet will work, but at least the crashes could be far more spectacular than a plain old blue screen or CTD...)

To be honest, I wished they listened to just one person - David Braben. His early ideas, as documented in the Dev Diaries, are BRILLIANT in my opinion. The game jumped the rails early on, probably because some developer said, "We can't do that." and nice-guy Braben let them off the hook (because I think most things he wanted CAN be done).

These days it feels Braben has completely moved on, but this may very well just be a lack of "marketing" rather than what's happening in his head.

FDev, always biased towards Marjory. :(

That is the logical outcome on how to spend resources most efficient. How many would benefit from it and how much resources do we need to spend on it?

So regardless who make a suggestion for a change, individual or a group, it makes more sense to appeal to how the change would benefit more players compared to a single player.
Also, it makes sense to think about how much work a suggestion might create. Are we talking about a single indicator in the HUD for our light for example, or are we suggesting a change that would require a total rewrite of the entire UI?

This is a re-occuring thing I have seen on these forums, where suggestion disregards whatever amount of works it would most likely create, and then disregard this with "I can make any suggestion I like", and that is true, but if they really was hoping for their ideas to be implemented then these things are worth to take into consideration.

So there is nothing magical about why suggestions that is biased to the majority is getting more attention from FDev... and the Forums are in a no way a good indication on the playerbase wants and desires.
