Newcomer / Intro Literally can't even start playing (CH products help)

Well I'm pretty upset right about now. I'll explain why. I originally got this game back right before beta ended, but never played it. Didn't have the time, at the time. Figured I'd eventually get around to it, plus getting it then gave you a few nice bennies. Well the fiance is out of town, nothing going on tonight, let's give it a try.

First, game starts and says that instead of the two ships I recall I should have for buying in beta, I got one.

:mad:

Well, perhaps I misunderstood at the time. Annoying but whatever. Start training mission. Stick does not work. Check config screen. Game does not support my stick.

:eek::mad:

Ok fine, well I have seen this before. Off to see if someone has worked up a CH Control Manager profile that I can use. Find 3-4 without looking too hard. Try one. Doesn't work. Try second. DOESN'T work. Cut to the chase, NONE OF THEM work. Either I can use my fighterstick or my pro throttle, but not both. Sometimes not even all the functions of one or the other (and it seems to pick which one to use at random). Spend the next 3 hours troubleshooting stick configurations (which I fully admit my knowledge of the CH configuration software is rudimentary) and get nowhere.

Now, I fully admit I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is. So I need someone to help me out here on what I'm supposed to be doing because at this point I can't control the game (I refuse to use a mouse, I have standards you see).

Plus, something else. I was assuming I'd just jump in and be able to set up controls easily, like any of my flight sims, where you can use pretty much anything because it detects and supports anything. Why is this important? Because I've got the whole kit for a flight simmer - trackIR, HOTAS, and...rudder pedals. Which I was planning on using for yaw. However here's the kicker. My stick and throttle are CH products.

My rudder is a saitek. Really nice pedal set. Works great. Won't work at all apparently in ED because obviously, a saitek pedal set does not interface with the CH control manager software - unless I'm mistaken. Would very much like to use my entire control rig, and I don't think that having to buy them from all the same company for that to happen is too much to ask.

Can someone help my out here?

Have you tried to configure each axis manually?

Your 2nd ship will be in another station nearby where you started, check the galaxy map for a ship icon.

CH Products do work. They are just a bit of a pain to set up and as you found out, they don't have a custom profile. For some reason I have to load the profile and download it to the throttle I use every time I reboot the computer.

If I start without going through this procedure then ED defaults to a generic profile. All I have to do is load the profiler software and profile and then the in game settings I saved show up as default.

It is a bit convoluted, but once you have got the hang of the process it's no biggie. Just a bit annoying compared to the X52 I had before.

I only use the CH Pro Throttle (together with a Warthog Stick and a Wii Balance Board as rudder pedals) and i only once used the CH Control Manager to calibrate the throttle.

Ingame i just configured everything manually as a custom profile.

Could you explain a bit how you did that? That would seem to be how to get everything working.
