Might be interested in buying discounted livery...you know...if I could see it...

Dark lighting is fine for ambiance but it might be helpful to have some brighter lighting come on while livery shopping. Also, the ability to zoom and rotate in the preview window would be nice. I mean...there are store camera controls now in the options but they don't seem to apply to ship livery only on foot livery.

Preview your livery in the livery store, not the livery selector.
There, you will find extreme brightness and a camera you can move around.

Well despite that hopefully it'll trigger some more complaints about how many paintjobs still don't match the thumbnail image.

Shame the default paintjobs don't have an image, because I'm still waiting for my metallic gray SRV to turn (anthracite) black again.

You mean like the apparently green FDS? Was scratching my head when I saw it in the shipyard screen, as I seem to remember it's rather grey instead. Maybe it's my monitor settings ;)
