Living UI Ideas

The idea of a "Living UI" as dubbed by the developers is a great idea that will help players see problems without searching through menus and text, here are my idea of some aspects of the living UI

Vandalism/Security
If some parts of the park are not well patrolled by security guards, some parts of the park might become populated with more shady characters, meaning less people in those areas and visible signs of vandalism. Guests will remark about not feeling safe and not going to certain parts of the park.

Gardening
Lack of handymen/gardeners in certain parts means that grass might get tall or flowers die/lose color. In RCT1/2 this was somewhat of a thing. I loved it when I saw handymen cutting grass and seeing this texture and guests will remark about the state of the park

Happiness
If the gusts are not having fun, you could have a slight grey tint/fliter of the screen, signifying there is a problem with happiness something like

If a rides to expensive or does not have enough money you could have the guest animate looking into his wallet and checking his money to then get sad because he doesn't have enough money, lowered head and leave the stall or ride, it will then add to his angry state if the guest is angry he might sort argument with the staff, this will make the others near him unhappy.

Great ideas!
I dont know if the RC1-2 gardening would work with the paint terrain tools the game will probably have though.

Used to love seeing mowed lawns everywhere in RCT. I always added gardens and stuff until I got a prettiest park award haha. Crammed that <ahem> every spot I could find.

I hope the garden management has a bit more to it than the old rct games.

Was hoping this thread would be a bit more popular..

It all comes back the the "Living UI" the developers are talking about. It's a chance for them to have the park visually adapt to players decisions in game. So if there are a lack of handymen the park should visually change to show it's falling apart from lack of work being done to maintain it

Yes, a living UI sounds like a great idea. There are a lot of ways this can be accomplished. [up]

Just trying to think of other ideas that would help with this concept.

I think the guests and their reactions and what we've seen of that would already provide a lot of feedback. We will be able to tell which areas of the park are popular due to how many people are simply in the area, what rides they like based on their reactions watching the ride. I hope they have a lot of animations for that though, people jumping and pointing at a ride they think looks cool, stopping to watch as the rollercoaster car goes by etc

Maybe some interactions with the scenery would be nice. Stopping to look at/smell flowers etc. Maybe if you have several benches to sit at, guests will prefer to sit at the 'better' one. better could be determined by a few things such as noise levels, or surrounding scenery. If it's right next to a rollercoaster they might find it too loud when the car goes past and won't want to sit there or something.

There's the little things that were also in RCT like trash being on the ground if you don't have enough bins, or bins overflowing with rubbish if it's too full and you don't have enough workers around to empty it. Vandalism if you have no security.

I would LOVE to see the guests walk past a haunted house and hide behind each other, or maybe one guest to another who is frightened makes chicken sounds and flap his/ her arms about!

That sounds really good! and if nobody likes those things or filters, they can just turn it off in the settings!

I love this idea! It makes the game much more interesting visually. And it makes being a manager more engaging: instead of getting a popup of people complaining about something, you get to see the problem and "catch it" yourself without any prompting, which feels good. I think the idea of having shady characters in places with not enough security would be really funny XD there are so many ways to have fun with it!
