Newcomer / Intro Liz Ryder

I am going to be unlocking her shortly and have no idea about missiles. Missile, Seeker or Torpedos? Suggestions please.

Weddell, that's an "up to you" answer, I'm afraid. I, personally never used missiles but combat isn't that important to me.

Try them out is what I'd say.

I dont need missiles I just need to unlock Hera Tani but wondered which missiles would be useful at some point?

None of them - for me.
I got a set of reverb cascade torpedoes (lightweight and high cap) lying around somewhere, but against players they're next to useless and against NPCs they're too slow and too expensive (compared to pacifiers/frags). I also got a few lightweight packhounds - but again, they're not really that effective I ended up using half the load to take down a single NPC Cobra. Might be more interesting in larger ships that can mount 4 or more launchers. Dumbfire at least go off when you want them to, but I usually miss, while seekers would be helpful against small fighters - if it weren't that they need longer to lock on than the fighter stays in my sights. And if I can keep them in the sights long enough for the mssiles to lock, I can also kill them otherwise.
I've seen them used in PvP to bring down/damage external modules (like weapons) successfully - once the shields are down.

As others have said, none of the missiles are of great use. If you want to save on materials and have the time, you could just sell commodities to her base to get your rep high enough for the invite.

Seekers are most useful against ships, Dumbfire are alleged to have been good for shooting surface installations by those that did that, Torpedoes are slow and I have heard little else good about them.

Personally I would get either High Capacity or possibly Rapid Fire on Seekers, if only for how impressive a T10 looks when you arm it with those on all hard points.

Mines used to be a good thing as well but stuff changed.

You can mod dumbfires to disrupt the FSD of the ship hit, similar (but less effective) than the GROM-missile from power play (which can also be engineered)

Nothing you really need against NPCs, but may be nice to have for PvP until you unlock the grom-missiles, depending on playstyle.
