General / Off-Topic Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogery-chwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Liam Dutton, weather presenter on the British chain Channel 4, pronounced without flinching 58 letters (40 consonants) of the longest city name of Europe.

But how do we *know* that he nailed the pronunciation?

I could tell he practiced though.
My Dad was Welsh and he could say it, and I've had other Welsh people say it to me (to correct me) and I can confirm that is how it's supposed to be said.

My way of saying it is phonetically .... Lan[1] Fair Pull Gwyn Go Gery[2] Cheer Win Drob Will Lanty[1] Silly Go Go Goch[3]
[1] Has a double L sound, similar to a Scottish "ach"
[2] Has a hard G as in Google
[3] Has a ch sound just like a Scottish "ach"

The way I say it is not correct, but people know what word I am saying and it's impressive to those who can't say it.

I'm Welsh, can say it, have also been there, and can confirm that he is saying it correctly. This was obviously done as a one off though, that town doesn't normally appear on weather forecasts! :)
