Yes - it's definitely the fault of the people who purchased the product that the company producing the product didn't use the sales data to predict and add additional capacity to handle the load.

Somehow, the failure of Fdev to prepare is the fault of the customer?

Also, pretty sure plenty of games handle the load just fine on launch/patch days.
