Teamspeak has a great backend for large group controls. Not sure what they are considering malware...I'd be more careful about social engineering here. I'm a fan of Mumble and Ventrilo myself.

skypes great for a few people, any pc gamer probably already has vent, mumble and ventrillo installed also

Umm.... That's not the Teamspeak everyone uses... Teamspeak 3 which is what most people use is available at http://www.teamspeak.com/ and is written and published by TeamSpeak Systems GmbH and TeamSpeak Systems Inc. The Teamspeak.exe that is found in herd protect is published by some random company, and is probably distributed by some random warez site.

Lesson of the day, always ensure you download programs from trusted sources.
