Local chat NPC pictures

Anyone else keep seeing this picture show up for a bunch of NPCs in Odyssey local chat?
It's a little weird that everyone in the galaxy, from system security to pirates and cruise ship captains, all look like this "Biff Bacon" here.
It's not every NPC, but it's frequent. I still see the default, black helmet NPC picture or a few other faces for NPCs in local.
Haven't switched over the Horizons yet to see if I keep getting the same pictures, but I notice this one show up a lot in local chat while playing in Odyssey.

The comms chat in Odyssey could use a general debug from where I'm sitting.

When I switch between foot and ship I often get a garbled comms box that says TEST at the top.

Yes, it seems there is only 1 person left in our galaxy. And he/she is EVERYWHERE!

I think this has been discussed previously and the general consensus was "it's one of those FDev things. They will probably fix it once (or IF) they fix the more glaring issues with this buggy mess".
Here's to hoping.

I have the feeling that it's not being fixed because it could have some serious repercussions, like making all airless planets unlandable, or force a refresh of the planet tech across the whole galaxy. 🤔

Its a bug, wich female default npcs icon is bugged, as male one show correct one with default flight black suit with helmet, on orange stripes background.
There was female version of this too, but instead of game using it, it does use not correct one, something along ID-1 female face that seems appear only for station contacts icons.

They already have procedural faces generator for stations contacts or fraction representatives, but I guess they wont using it due of sheer numbers of "flying" npcs around, to point where you would feel you keep seeing same faces but with diffrent colours of haircuts and skin color, as it already does feel repetitive if seen enough of "variety" of these, if mechanic such as this would be used for "flying" npcs, this would be become even more repetitive.

Its far more simpler to use generic icon for "flying" npcs, and default ones worked just fine until oddysey came out and females ones got bugged. It did broke illusion and create feel that every female npcs pilot out there, is clone.

Such small bugs in UI display like that can go went un-fixed for long years. Quite sure this is not at top of list for Fdevs priorities to fix, but rather at somewhere at bottom.

I guess there was a reason they always had their helmet on before :)
The image in the OP is the female avatar, the male one still has their helmet with dark visor on.

The same avatars are used for telepresence multi-crew instead of the actual player avatar as they used to be (and as is used for physical multicrew).

Wait! Are you saying that when you use multi-crew (both real player and NPC's), they don't show the real multi-crew avatar in comms any more? So all players and pilots look the same too? 😲

If you use telepresence multi-crew in Odyssey the player that joins your crew will have a 'default', grey suited avatar. The female one is the same as the pic in the OP, the male one has a helmet with a tinted visor and a beige waistcoat. It's the same avatar as the NPCs use (in Odyssey), although the female one seems much more common.

It is a shame that those Cmdrs do not get to show off their cosmetics as they could in Horizons (and perhaps still can, I haven't tested that combo) and can with physical multi-crew.

Oh my word... 🤦‍♂️

I guess it shows how (un)popular multi-crew is on Odyssey if they haven't addressed this issue after 7 months. 😑
