Locating stuff to buy

Hi everyone, is there any in game feature to locate equipment? I mean in the 34th century no one advertises? I should be able to remotely look at the goods a star system is selling because it is advertised on the galactic market or something... Having to fly and dock at each station to check? Or have I missed something. WHat about phone calls to the station manager?

Currently you need to dock in order to see a full stations inventory, I'm not sure what the plans are for implementing anything further than that. One thing you can do which will make it easier is to avoid systems that aren't classified as industrial or high tech as those are the systems that will usually carry the greatest number of upgrades.

been to bolg aulin where, they are in the fitting section right? all i see are mainly cargo scanners...

It fits in an internal compartment. The cargo scanners, kill warrant scanners, and others like that fit into utility slots. That might be why you aren't finding it.

Thanks, not much of a manual out there eh? Btw TEST: Mostly Harmless? Is that a play on the TEST alliance from eve online and the former mostly harmless alliance as well?

You know, there is a good idea there. Does anyone know if there will be GalNet commercials for stations advertising their stock.

No problem, glad I could help.

The name is a play on the tradition of gaming communities that form out of Reddit to name themselves "TEST". In our case there's no relation to the EVE alliances of the same name. The majority of our members have never actually played EVE surprisingly.

The reason that you don't get commodity prices or equipment from other star systems is that communication is done by couriers. Faster-than-light communication in this universe is expensive and very low bandwidth. Essentially, it's used by GalNet for short news feeds and not much else.

Even 'phoning' another station in the same system would be annoying, you'd have anywhere from minutes to hours lag between each question and answer.

Would be possible for the stations to use the "holo-ads" outside the station though, and
that would save you docking time. "FSD GRADE A IN STOCK HERE TODAY!" Or similar?

You'll find almost every upgrade in and around Styx, Aulin and Assellius Primus.

Sometimes you just need to wait for the stock to update, but it is possible to trick out your ship without unnecessary trips to the unknown.

These places are light years apart. Im not surprised that there isnt a fully working communication network. I cant even get a phone signal in my own house all the time
