Location Faction, need advice.

I've been hunting a NAV, and racking up bounties from a faction I can't find.
They aren't present in the system, so I am assuming they are from an adjacent system.

Is there any way to find this faction, without going to every adjacent system and looking for them?This anarchy system have a lot of adjacent systems and it would take quite some time to look in them all.

Unfortunately there's no search function for faction names at the moment. I take it that their name doesn't give any clues?
You can see all the factions in a system from the system map by panning away from any planet or station, so no need to visit. In my experience these sort of 'named faction' bounties usually come from a nearby system i.e. <10ly.

They got the same name as the system I'm in, but they're not here.
And if you don't have data on the system, you need to visit it to get data.

Ahhhh, good point on the data. I must have been hanging around the same area for too long and have filled in all the blanks :)
Do they show up in the system map but don't have a station?

EDIT - Can you still buy data on nearby systems from the galaxy map for a small fee? Haven't tried it for a while.

I think the only way for a faction named after a specific system to appear elsewhere is through the Expansion mechanic, which usually means that they are then in both systems. Sounds like it could be a bug.

If you have a name I'll take a look (or not if you like your privacy :) )

I had this today. Zapped a pirate in Tiethay (Anarchy) and gained a 40k cr bounty from The Lords of Tiethay. Unfortunately they don't control either of the two platforms in the system, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Admittedly I haven't checked the surrounding systems, but if they can't sort themselves out in their own system then I don't see how they could have expanded...

I don't think they're supposed to, a ticket is probably in order. Those bounties will be stuck in your list now....forever!

Yep got the same problem but in a diff sys, 250k of Bounties and no one to cash the Cheque, bstds...

Same here. Have bounties allocated by a faction which exists as a minor faction at an outpost in the eponymous star system, but they're evidently not available to pay out. I've been to the single starport and both outposts in that system, but that faction was not shown able to redeem bounties.

I get this after a Kill Warrant Scan in a system.

I'm getting sub faction (ie not the ruling faction) bounties for kills.

This would be fantastic, as it would give another method to raise standing with the faction of your choice without running missions... _IF_ you could hand them in - you can only hand in bounties to station owners for their faction.

As has been said above, this is resulting in orphaned bounties that cannot be cleared without causing a faction change in system.

Yeah was trying out nav point bounty hunting today as well, in an anarchy system that has a single outpost, but seven individual factions present. After an hour or so i had bounties from nine different factions in my transaction tab (three major plus the six non-pirate locals)

another hour of searching all nearby systems for stations owned by the relevent factions I still have five that don't seem to own a station within about fifty lightyears

If ever there was an argument for remote bounty collection....
