Locked Internal Compartments

Okay, read the title. Basically, I hate the idea. The Orca was already a marginal ship, now it's even worse. For very near it's cost, I can get a better trade ship (the python), or if I want to fight, we have the now reduced price FdL. I don't think that the FdL should be nerfed, because the two new ships should nicely act as a big ship killer (vulture) and an upgrade of sorts for the viper, if you want one (FdL). I find the Orca recieved the worst 'update' though. Two slots that are locked to cargo racks that aren't even the right size for the slot. I could carry substantially more cargo with a class 6 cargo rack, or carry a class 6 shield, and provide an effective defense if a pirate decided to destroy or assassinate (future VIP passengers?) my cargo. Personally, I don't think any ship in the game should have a slot that is locked to a particular module. The flexibility also makes the game more interesting. That assassination mission just got a good bit tougher now that your 'target', an Orca, is packing a class 6 A shield, shield boosters, and class 6 A thrusters.

Did you make a bug post in the bug forum?

Could very well be. It doesn't really do me anything. I can setup most of the ships the way I like. Type-6, Type-7, Eagle, Vulture, Viper are the ones off the top of my head that can't carry full A internal compartments, shield generator, and a set of beam lasers. Makes it so I can give a target a nasty surprise if they do interdict me. The Orca could fit 6A shield, but it carried less cargo than the python, which can dock at outposts. So it wasn't really a good fit for me. So is the styling. I like my ships to be fairly tough. The Orca, as a liner, has huge windows and other things that don't make sense. It would be more interesting if I could carry my cargo, several passengers in the ship without modules, and they pay more because the Orca, unlike a Type-9, has much more luxurious cabins. We are supposed to get a smaller liner, the Beluga at some point. I want to see how fuel efficient (or lack thereof) the Panther Clipper will be.

If in doubt assume it's a bug. I'm pretty sure it's a bug and noone's found it coz noone flies an Orca :)

It's not a bug. The slots are reserved for passenger modules, but passengers aren't implemented yet. When they are, you can put class 6 and 5 passenger cabins on them, OR class 5 and 4 cargo racks. Observation decks make for poor cargo storage areas, but it's fine for rich passengers.

Well that's dumb. What if I want to carry a class 6 shield generator instead of a class 6 passenger module? Personally, I am waiting for the outpost overhaul (large docking pads?) and/or for the Panther. Who cares what interdicted me? I'm so big, a Sidewinder or Eagle is a bug on the windshield.
