Fairly new player here, curious about the log files in "user_profile\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous".
Do they ever get purged by the game code or do they hang around forever?
If the latter then some of the longer term CMDRs must have fairly humungous folder sizes, both in megabytes and file numbers.

It will not be purged by the game, but windows re-install may. So you must manually backup and keep copies of those files including binary file of visited systems. Also keybindings. Those 2 things you must backup regularly - most important things for comfortable play.

I have script which zips older then 3 days, I run it once a week.

Thanks for the info ... backups aren't an issue for me, daily incrementals of the whole profile directory to a NAS.
