Logic...why are Federal Agents in Imperial Clippers?

There are Hutson Pledged Cmdrs in Clippers so why not NPCs

There are lots of them.

But if we want a more current example of this: during WWII there are endless accounts of Allied soldiers using MP40s and Germans using Stens or Thompsons.

Further, there were examples of English armored columns using German tanks... this has happened throughout history.

You don't think it's just a tad peculiar? Not just npcs, but the whole 'ranks in all factions' thing. Then again, the Alliance and Feds apparently can't produce combat ships worth a damn anyway. The poor Fed pilots probably have to buy their own ships as well.

oh yeah gents its down right crazy...
be a high ranking member of all the factions at once? if i was the general and one of the boys came up to me in the bar and was joking away and then telling me he was a captain for the ENEMY faction....well i would just put a lazer bolt straight between his eyes.....no questions asked.

traitors/spys will not be tolerated lol

Well, that doesn't look very authentic to me

Someone explain me how the imperial navy allows those guys the get titles to fly these ships while players currently can't buy them. :p

The issue is that the Federal Dropship is the counterpart to the Clipper, but the Dropship is inferior in everything besides Armor and currently armor is pointless, so even it's armor doesn't help.

As I see it right now the Dropship should at least reduce it's base price to Courier level, with similar rank needed within Federation to unlock it.

Then we would probably see a lot more players flying it.

I think the Federal Dropship needs a visual redesign more than anything else. Believe it or not, people are not too keen on flying around in a high heel shoe with wingy bits.

But not because they served in the opposing military and became a sufficiently high rank to be able to "purchase" military hardware, right? :)

I'm not being facetious, but I'm not sure this can be made to "make sense" with real-world military examples. The system shouldn't allow someone to serve a federal power whilst holding a high rank with their opposing super power. Surely, the first thing the empire would do is revoke your rank? This stuff all needs to be simpler and more coherent.

1. Maybe they're using the word 'agent' the way it's actually used by Intelligence agencies - meaning a local asset who provides information or services. So agents in Imperial space are Imperial citizens providing their services to an employer.

2. I sold the last Imperial Clipper I owned at an Alliance station. I'm betting they didn't ship it straight back to the Empire, and they probably didn't ask to see a rank insignia when they sold it on. Just because us CMDRs who always buy new off the showroom floor can't get our hands on a Clipper without the right title, that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of after-market vessels available out there.
