Newcomer / Intro Login Failure..AVG woe!

Had AVG pop up earlier to say that it had detected a threat in my ED exe...something called WatchDog something or other. Now I know there used to be a virus called watchdog so I told AVG to kill it. Now when I try to launch ED I get the following error- Login Failure- To ensure you are playing the most up to date version please use the launcher.
Help! Will I have to re-install? :(

Yes, probably. Watchdog is the cheat detection part of the program.

You'll probably get all sorts of opinions as to its worth, but you need it otherwise the servers say "no, thanks".

Sh*te, does this mean I'll have to start the game from scratch? Do I merely delete the ED Launcher folder or uninstall through Uninstall/Change Programe?

AVG is garbage. Just lately I had to fix someone's Internet connection because the dumbass AVG figured his router was a threat and blocked access to it. Do yourself a favour and get something better.

Can you open the launcher? Isn't there an option there to verify the game files? Try that and see if it gives you the option to redownload the launcher/game files.

Or go into AVG and change the instruction to kill that process (I don't use AVG so don't know how you do that).

There is indeed.

You have to log in first.

Then select options and choose "validate game files" and it should re-download what you're missing.
