I was having the same problem that everyone else was having and I worked around it. I purchased through steam. The way I logged on was by clicking on the steam icon in the taskbar and then clicking on Elite from there. If I try to launch from my steam library page, it still shows the "redeem" or "login/steam login". I hope this works for other people as well.

I can say without a doubt that this does NOT work. I just tried it for S&G. I am now unable to login with the taskbar either. I am going to restart and see if it will work again...Jeeze....

Restarted my PC and was able to get back into the game, so do NOT use the file location to launch the game.
Worked fine yesterday, today it reports SERVER STATUS: ISSUES DETECTED unable to start, Launcher does not even offer the start, just show an INSTALL button (also does not actually do anything).
(steam users) I have just rectified this issue. log out of steam. log back in. then right click on elite dangerous and validate files. it told me that 1 file was missing. after it validated I launched the game, exit outy of the login box and then hit steam login. went blue noe I can launch the game. hope this helps. 07 Cmdrs
Something is off gentlemen, I had to relog on Steam yesterday to get the game rolling, was OK, today I have to do the same thing again. Frustrating.
Hm, I am NOT using STEAM but also cannot get into to game, saying cannot connect to the server. I checked my internet connection and that is fine, so not a problem on my side, looks like a server issue?
