Hardware & Technical Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick Issues With Elite Dangerous

The joystick doesn't work unless I launch the game using the old Logitech Joystick Profile. However, if I launch it using the profiler, steam overlay doesn't work, and it keeps launching in VR. I have to go into Graphics settings and disable 3D every time. Going into Graphics settings and disabling 3D allows me to play for a few minutes, then SteamVR kills itself because it's idle, which closes the game as well. So basically when using the joystick I'm forced to either play in VR, or play on the monitor for only ten minutes at a time. Anyone know any fixes?

I have one of these I plug in from time to time. I never have any issues (W7 pro) but I use no drivers / profile software / whatever - just plug in and windo$e sees it, so E D detects it no bother.

I am so glad I have avoided W10. Is your joystick detected by windo$e OK? If so then I suggest you might need to raise a support ticket at https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/ because Elite should have no issues seeing a joystick that is working fine in windo$e.

I literally just have to plug mine into a USB port if I want to use if for pew-pew at CG BH sessions - I don't even have to unplug my CHPro Fighterstick - I just select the appropriate binding in E D - that is no consolation to you though as it is in W7. I don't often run my steam-account commander via Steam so I can't say if there are issues with Steam and the joystick - never noticed any.

If I understand things correctly, the game does not pick up the stick when Steam is running and interfering enough to provide an overlay? If so, go into Steam settings (including big picture mode), and disable every single option you can find relating to game controllers. Steam loves to make input devices invisible to the game.

Yeahh that did the trick. The specific setting was "generic input configuration support." Disabled that and now everything is working as it should. Thanks!
