Logitech G-940, Not being able to lower stick "spring" settings.

I Think Elite will be one of the greaterst "Space sims" on the Market, when they change, fix, some things.

No1. My Logitech G-940 Force Feedback, can not be activated resulting in a VERY, hard "G-940" standard spring setting, (not as in X-Rebirth, were I can modify it, so I get a loose stick that feels real good.)

I am not saying that I should have FF "feel" in the stick, JUST, that I should be able to lower the "spring effect" by having the G-940 drivers in "Elite" so I have the options to LOWER, the "stiffness" in the Logitech G-940 joystick.
Thats All!
Otherwise this sim is "impossible, un-interesting" for me to use. (I Think I am talking for All, Logitech G-940 Owners.)

No2.Nvidia's "3D-vision" (Asus 120 MHz 3D LCD) support is "appauling" bad.

No3. "Come on Guys" :) the Engine sound to "Sidewinder" is what? a Joke? it sounds like a "sprutting" Childs toy... to say the least. :)
(you can do better then that.)

This Fixed, It will be One of the Greaterst Space Simulators in Time!

Greetings Luger.

Have you tried to adjust those settings in the Logitech options themselves?

And for this no, you are not talking for all G940 owners, I think it needs to be even tighter then it is at the moment, but I also have mine bolted to a cockpit so it wont slide

The G940 centering spring can only be adjusted if the software initialises ffb settings, on doing so, the stick reads the defaults you have set in the drivers; without initialisation full force is applied to the stick.

However, there is a work around, someone from the Eagle dynamics forums wrote and released a small program that initialised the sticks ffb forces using a few simple settings allowing adjustment of centering force and stick friction. It does require that you run this program and keep it running in the background while playing your chosen title. I also found that occasionally the stick would stop using the settings from the program requiring it to be run again.

Unfortunately the file can be quite hard to find, it is called simFFB for 32 bit exe and simFFB_64 for the 64 bit version, but you are probably best off just searching google for simFFB as both version work in a 64 bit OS anyway.

Frankly, the G940 is a waste of money, Logitech promised much for this stick leading owners on, telling them a new driver release was in the works that would fix a number of problems including adjustable curves for all axis, re-mappable mouse hat and more, but the drivers never arrived. Logitech only made two driver releases supporting this stick before quietly stopping active support and leaving customers with £200 of mediocre plastic junk. I know you don't want to hear it, I was bitten too, but everything about the G 940 is cheap, from the potentiometers through to the low quality motors used to generate the ffb effects. A great many people determined to continue on with the stick have since made heavy modifications even going as far as replacing all the pots and the main board with units from Leo bodnars range.

In the end I just dumped my G940 in the back of a cupboard as a lost cause and will never buy hardware from logitech again, and I am now happily using a warthog. It is just a pity that this stick helped put one of the final nails in the coffin of developers actively supporting ffb flight sticks in their titles.

Greetings Luger.

Sadly its due to the lack of logitech support that G940 users run into this.

try this program http://www.dirks-software.ca/downloads/ForceTest.exe It will give the FFB something to activate on. Its the Center Spring setting you want to adjust.

Thats the best you can get atm the moment im afraid, Logitech themselves all but closed its support on the G940 ..........

Leave the joystick properties page open in the background, the one that has FFB effects for each button. Make sure Enable Force Feedback is unticked in the settings. Problem solved :)

This!

Before gamma, using this method was not reliable and the stick would reset to default values at random.
Since gamma, I have no such problems anymore and the trick described above works perfectly now.

It is possible that the change did not come with gamma, as I reinstalled the logitech software multiple times for reasons unrelated to ED. I did read on forums that reinstalling works for some people, too. While the first 2 times reinstalling did not work for me, the next time coincided with gamma release and I have been happy ever since! :D

That is not Elite fault but rather Logitech that ruined might be great product with bad support.

With upcoming VR development 3D-Vision is becomes obsolete. There are a lot of other problems that should be addressed.

That is a smallest ship. I find the sound being great.

Tried that but then you have a limp stick in your hand :p
With that forcetest you can atleast leave a litle bit of centering force.

Hmmm I dont :D
I can set the center spring to any value and as long as I dont close the controller window from the logitech software, it now works perfectly.

I have set the Logitech Profiler to load my Elite settings as a persistent profile and have not really had any problems. I think I did this more to make the axis settings work in the game stick. The pedal sensitivity needed a lot of tinkering with, but generally have a great setup now and am happy with the joystick overall.

Check out the SDK demo application

I just wanted to let you know that for me the Spring Settings from the Controller Setup menu becomes and stays active when running the ControlsAssignmentSDKDemo.exe from the SDK which comes with the Logitech Gaming Software.

So it seems that there is a call in the API provided by the SDK which gets it working. I will look through the headers and sources and see if i can find out what it is and perhaps write a small program.

But the above mentioned trick should do it for now. I am on Windows 8.1 x64.

Cheers

I can send simFFB to those who need it ... Just PM ... Cant posting links and attachments without permission for doing that >_<
Actually i'm using this tool for ELITE, and it works well.

Hi,
I just got a g940 since it was actually the cheapest hotas I could find locally. Bought it from a nice falcon junky needing some cash. I've got it running well and found the simffb program to make the center spring comfortable(thanks for the tip!). The game is much more fun now than it was with my old super cheap stick. One issue I'm having that I'd like to fix is:Whenever I pull the trigger it disables FF, which is actually nice since it makes aiming easier, but then when I release the trigger wherever the stick is becomes the new spring center. So I have to keep pulling the trigger till it sets the spring center right if I want to fly straight across a system without having my hand on the stick.

Any tips?

Thanks!

I had the same problem the first time i've used simffb and solved it. I don't know the way exactly anymore, but i think you have to click "None" in the options menu.

Regards
Marcus
