Logitech Profiler and Elite

Just a quick question. Has anyone else got a Logitech 3D Pro but unable to get Elite to accept commands from the Logitech Profiler software? Current system is Windows 8.1 based.

i have a logitech 3d pro. My advice is to not bother with the logitech software, as it is pretty much useless. My personal piece of hardware is also a bit wonky, where one axis is more sensitive than the other, and the stick never fully zeros out. i'd suggest some other type of software to help with power curves and such, though I dont personally use it. Look up vjoy i think, and have a look around the forums for some other possibilities.

Yep, I've got a 3D Pro as well (on my second PC), and like Brimstone, I don't use the profiler software.
(I'm running Win7 Pro)
Works fine for me.

I've got a G710+ keyboard on my main gaming machine (Win8.1 Pro), and I use the Logitech "Gaming Software". I had issues with it (the software) until I read a thread somewhere which advised to go to an earlier version of the software (8.55.137)...it now works a treat.
This might solve your joystick issue as well, hope it helps.

Cheers

Well, although both Brimstone and Clicker have the right to their opinions, I respectfully disagree with them. I found the Logitech Profiler extremely handy, but not for 'Power Curves' as Brimstone was thinking I was using it for. Let me explain:

With my profile, I have different buttons set up as keystrokes. For example, one button is assigned as a 'Shift' button, while another is set to "Target Hostile". When the Shift button is also pressed the 'Target Next Hostile" becomes "Target Previous Hostile". My Targeting of Subsystems works the same way as do other in ship functions. In this way I effectively double the amount of joystick buttons available on my Logitech 3D Pro. It is not just the trigger and other buttons I have as Shift Alternate, I also have the POV assigned like this as well. Unshifted, my POV acts as the Lateral Thrust controls (Up. Down, Left and Right) but when I use the Shift button with it, the POV becomes the Power Distribution (Normally the arrow/cursor keys on default controls if I remember rightly). This leaves my hands much more free for flight and combat which I prefer instead of having to look away from the screen to lay eyes on a particular key I want to use on the keyboard. But as I said, everyone has their own preferences.

Now with that said, I FINALLY got the Logitech Profiler to pass commands to Elite Dangerous. For those of you looking to do the same (I doubt there would be many) I managed to do this by setting both the Logitech Profiler software and Elite Dangerous to run with Compatibility Mode for Windows 7 and with Run as Administrator (I have Windows 8.1). IF this helps you, leave a note here, I'd be curious as to how many people have the same profiler setup as me.

Is this still working for you? I have not been able to get the profiler to pass alternative keys to Elite. I have two controllers setup for using the in game menus and want to use Voice Attack, but VA can only send keyboard commands or a third joystick command via vJoy. I tried setting both executables to Run in Administrator and in Win7 compatibility, but then the launcher for E:D gives an error before launching E:D. Your help would be appreciated! Or anyone who has gotten profiler working! Thanks in advance.

You don't need the profiler software to calibrate the 3d Extreme Pro. Go to the 3rd post in the following thread...

http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Logitech-G-Controllers/Extreme-3D-Pro-calibration-issues/td-p/788795

It says it's forXP, but I did it in Win7. Mine used to pull to the left all the time, but it works great now.

Thanks for the reply. I am not trying to calibrate or get elite to recognize the joystick, but instead trying to get elite to recognize joystick buttons as keyboard inputs so I can free up the limited two bindings to work with voice attack which can only send keyboard commands or a whole new joystick command.
Tl:dr, I need to use profiler to remap buttons since elite only allows two sets of buttons for commands and I have three, joystick, xbox, and keyboard (from voice attack).

Yes dasMikechen, my profiler is still working as of a couple of weeks ago when I last logged onto ED.

My Logitech Profiler points to this .exe to pass commands (In the Profile Properties of the Logitech Profiler)
C:\Users\Raa\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010\EliteDangerous32.exe

Both launcher exe and game exe are set to Win 7 Compatibilty and Run As Administrater.

P.S.: I consider the profiler as more of a keyboard macro set up. For example, holding my joysticks Shift Button and thumbing the POV stick down resets my Power Distributation by sending the 'Macro' I have created in the profiler to the games exe.

You don;t need the profiles software to use shift keys; the game supportd them natively.

I have an X55, which isn't Logitech, but it works fine without the software. I have a Logitech G22 keyboard and G13 pad and they both work fine with Elite using the Logitech software.

The G13 is great for ED.

I think you may have misunderstood what I mean by a shift button the100thmonkey.

The shift button is not equal to the keyboard shift keys in the respect that is a button that is assigned on the logitech profiler to change the button macro.
For example, I assign button 11 as a Shift Button. When pressing button 12 (or any other button) without the shift button, it will pass the macro to ED. However, when the Shift Button is pressed, then button 12 (While keeping the shift button depressed), the profiler passes a different macro to ED.
This is how I have my power distribution AND my lateral jets set to the POV.
POV = Lateral Jets.
Shift Button + POV = Power Distributation
Think of the Shift Button as a joystick specific function that has nothing to do with the keyboard shift. ;)

hmm, this should still be doable without the profiler.
Button 12 + pov UP = target ahead
pov up = pips to engines

Correct, Pazmino. You can assign pretty much any keyboard function (And some basic mouse funtions) all in the profiler, then assign the buttons in Elite (If you tend to change them in Elite as I do. If your a default key player, you just assign the same keys Elite uses as the button function in the Profiler). The only thing I can't seem to do is use two lateral thrust vectors at once on the POV (Example, lateral thrust up and right at the same time)
