So I finally got my clipper after 45ish game hours of grinding missions. I wanted the thing so bad. And I have to say it's beautiful and fast and luxurious.

I got a docking computer just so I can look around the cab and stations whilst someone else does the job for me

The "lol," you ask?

Oh... that's the fuel tank and jump range. Basically the fuel tank of a lawnmower and the jump range of 1-legged frog.

Or maybe a 1-legged penguin. I saw others post on this and thought, "no way it's that bad." Nope. It is.

Honestly, not bitter, I seriously laughed when I made my first trade-run in it. I'm bemused.

It's good enough to get you to a Python in style though

Weapons convergence is also poor, but once you adjust it's workable.

I'm 1500 LYs out in mine and not really complaining, have over 25 LY jump range, I guess I could get to where I'm going faster with an Asp, but because I want to take some nice screenies it's the best plus I hit more systems. (Oh FD give us that external non-combat camera, I mean come on did they stop making go-pro's in the future?)

Of course they did, right about the same time they forgot how to make window defrosters and microfiber cloths for the canopy and helmet faceplate. Why else do we have all the dirt, smudges and other various and sundry junk on the glass?

Lol I'm not fighting in this thing. It's made to take a tour in picturesque mountains in a luxurious Bentley... well as long as the tour last about 20 minutes and the mountains are within 8 meters of your driveway

Why didn't you look at the specs before you bought it, I mean Elite wiki is one google search away.

Yep.

It's also the best (only) ship in class for people who make videos/screenshots of the game (IMHO Frontier's best marketing tool) but it can't jump much further than a much cheaper Eagle or Sidewinder set up for the same job

The range is pretty meh, but the fuel tank is just terrible. Only major flaws of an otherwise awesome ship.

Ya, I probably would have if I was debating about buying it, but I was getting it no matter what

Besides, isn't that wiki out of date on several things? I checked it before and it was wrong due to game changes likely.

Also, props to the dude who got 25ly jump-range! I just plotted a 22ly trip and it is no joke, 3 jumps. Haven't found the A5 drive though, so I've got this B5.

Indeed, an A5 drive and a good fuel scoop are essential on the Clipper.

Or a pretty set route. On the plus side fuel is cheaper than a python by far for it. I scooped more in my Python than the Clipper just because I'm cheap.

I prefer the clipper to the python to be honest. Why? I've gotten player bounties in my clipper that I could have never gotten in my python. It's a little hard catching those asps and other smaller ships when your maximum boost speed is only 360 or so, but that's the way I like it! Now there's a purpose to every ship in game.

Well it's 25ly but that's pretty much strictly for exploration, fully loaded not going to happen, but yes the tank is way to small I have a class 7 scoop and scoop every star only takes seconds, but still a pain, gotta watch my route real close

Took me a very long time to find all A parts, and a while longer for A7 Shields, a wasted trip to Shinrarta cause they didn't have anything at the time.

Then took me another day or two to find C/3 G Beam lasers, But I no longer fly that ship because I can't cover the costs without trading and I no longer want to trade. Back to Cobra for the foreseeable future.
