Lomg Range Missions April 10 end? 2.3 Incoming?

I logged in to find a message on my screen saying all long range missions would end on April 10, so can we make a case that we now have a release date for 2.3?

Or has this happened before for other reasons? If so what things cuase this behaviour by the server?

I'm assuming the 10th is basically a buffer, to ensure you don't take anything on afterwards, and maybe temporarily remove them from the game to prevent issues?

Otherwise you'd get people stacking 5-6 long range missions in all corners of the galaxy, travel 10,000ly, then get the 20 minute update warning in game. Lol

Before Ran Tah, and passenger missions, we never really had any super long missions. Guess they thought ahead!

Let's look at this logically with the information we already have. The key date mentioned in the newsletter is the week ending April 16 which implies that 2.3 will be released in that week. April 16 this year is on a Sunday and not just any Sunday but Easter Sunday with all that entails. Since FD tend to normally work standard office hours we can be reasonably certain that they'll release before the weekend, which is a long weekend because it's Easter. So we can be fairly sure that the release is unlikely to be later than Thursday 13 and more likely before that in case something goes wrong. Releasing on the Monday is a possibility though my limited understanding of such procedures is that it's generally considered better to wait until Tuesday.

My money is on Tuesday - if there aren't delays due to last minute fixes. This gives them a little time to get out an emergency fix before the weekend if there is an unexpected disaster of some kind.

Actually the full message had a date on it (3rd of April I think it was), and it was essentially saying any current long duration missions could potentially auto fail on the 10th, any new ones taken from now on will have a corrected date. So I suppose they're making changes to the way these missions or missions in general are saved with our accounts, and they've managed to tag the missions which will need to be updated, so they can update them when they do the 2.3 update.

The 10th is just FD saying that 2.3 will be released from Week Beginning the 10th (which we already knew from the newsletter as it's also the week ending the 16th). My guess is they're aiming to do it early in the week considering it's also Good Friday & Easter weekend.
