As the thread title says: who'd like to meet up for a drink and a chat about Elite...and all the things thereof...?
That would be - OF COURSE - after at least 1 or 2 weeks playing Beta 8 hours a day! :D

May I suggest Saturday 12 July as a date as that will give people a chance to play , attend LaveCon and find a suitable venue.
Please choose somewhere that us, non-London folk can get to easily

Too close to Lavecon.
I have had some experience in organising events, and I can tell you a week after Lavecon is too soon. People will have spent money to attend Lavecon and won't have money to attend your event.

This is also glossing over it being in London, not an ideal location believe it or not.

If you reschedule it for a few months after, I'd happily attend, but I can't do a week after Lavecon and I'd imagine there are many others who would go but not that soon.

And it begs the question, if your reason to go to this is because you can't go to Lavecon, then why not?

As for where in London, I'd recommend somewhere close to either Euston or King's Cross as those will be the stations people will arrive at.

I also believe that choosing a date too close to Lavecon wouldn't be a brilliant idea.
(I won't be in the UK for Lavecon, unfortunately).

So, why don't you propose a date?

Would you like it to be before or after the commercial release of the game?

Hey, count me in!

I'm a lazy Londoner and can't be bovvered with trips to the frozen north, so a casual meet up inside the M25 would be cool.

Depends of the level of interest, but if it is small, I play DOTA2, and it's popular to organise these events at gaming cafe's, so as well as beer there is access to decent PC's with the game under discussion.

What about the first week of August so it won't be treading on the toes of Lavecon/Fantasticon?

I was thinking of organising something in late September or early October (FantastiCon is mid-August, so needs a decent length of time after that). I know a gaming bar in Dalston that would be perfect - they have space for machines to be set up, have a bunch of classic arcade cabinets and all their cocktails are gaming themed. I'm sure they could do up an Elite-based cocktail for the night :)

It would be nice to play the original Elite and/or Elite II and/or First Encounter with you guys...

I will be back on the 19th.

Yep, I'm still very up for this.
Been doing a play for the last month or so, but after this weekend my schedule should be freeing up - to an alarming degree. So I'll be up for some silly Elite/booze shenanigans!
