London plane tree? Why?

i really can't understand why the london plane tree is in the game and still such a big deal in RL. First of all, it's an ecological disaster, a botanical engineered Frankenstein monster (in dirty green-grey) with no biological benefit for anything, and is only outdone by the awful cherry laurel or the belargonium. i really don't like to see these things in cities anymore and would be happy if they were not planted in the future anywhere. does anyone know why they are still used, even though the protection of biodiversity has become so urgent? instead, they are spreading like an epidemic that is probably also infecting the brains of urban planners worldwide.

Well, they can tolerate the urban clima better then other trees, they provide shadow in the streets in summer, reduce noise and pollution in cities and produce oxigen, so I can't share your oppinion about patanes being an ecological disaster.

Oh - and I forgot: they bind (is this the correct term?) CO2.
same does plastic.lol. its not abot tree or no tree, its about choice. every planted plane blocks the room for tilia or quercus, wich host hundereds of species (london plane not at all). and i am very shure, that urban planers just dont know better or dont care, and make the most convenient or cheapest choise, thats a pitty.

They are well suited to growing in an urban environment though. For me, the more trees and green things in cities, the better.
On a game level, this is one of my favourite trees to use. It just looks good.
yes, but it would be better to change the urban environment (less concrete, less asphalt, less emissions) instead of managing the results of stupidity. it would be better to plant real plants again in the future. otherwise we are planting the next problem for future generations in every city.

It is a "real plant." It's a live, growing tree. It grows very well in urban environments and doesn't have particularly aggressive roots (unlike many other trees) which means planting it has allowed for a marked increase in the amount of green, leafy places within cities. That, I think, is something future generations will appreciate.

If you're worried about climate change, you should direct your energy towards the rampant deforestation still going on all over the world. The boreal belt stretching around the outside of the Arctic Circle is responsible for 40% of carbon dioxide consumption and it's really our last line of defence. A few hybrid trees planted in a few cities isn't really worth fretting over (neither is fretting about meat consumption or consumer-driven fossil fuel consumption, which is miniscule compared to industrial emissions).
