Lonely- suffering from empty seat syndrome

suffering from ESS, those long exploration or mission flights with no Co pilot or hired minion sat next to me. We need to press the Devs in putting our spare seats to use bar the holo me multi crew stuff.

Agreed, FD needs to implement NPC crew for the future, let's hope for 3.0 :)

It can be that hard really so I don't understand why it didn't happen when the commanders patch didn't drop, unless they are just drop feeding content for contents sake

You can accomplish this right now for $30 USD by buying a second CMDR account and using holo-me to create an avatar that matches their NPC portrait. Just put the second account on your main account's friend list and then start a multicrew session where you invite your second account to sit in your ship. This solution both fills the extra seat and also give you a nice pip bonus at the same time. The only limitation here (other than needing to purchase two accounts) is that you will need to use a second computer or have your main computer set up to run multiple copies of Elite. The devs have said that this is 100% permitted to run an afk second account in this manner so other than the cost of the second account and the multibox/multiinstall setup there isn't anything preventing you from doing this.

joining a crew keeps failing and when someone joins my crew I have to kick them because I can not deploy my srv with them in my ship.....(the CG requires an SRV)
?!?!!?!?!?!?

Another nod to this. Everything is already in place to allow this - they would gain massively from the RP users who would love to have an NPC/NPCs occupying the seats and for whom we could buy clothing, holo me additions etc.
Move the NPC's from the fighter hold and onto the deck.
Allow us to change their names and their looks in their own Holo-me to look how we want, dressed as how we want - FD, you are missing out on store sales here - I'm unlikely to buy more stuff for the look of my own character, for the look of another character I can actually see in my cockpit, yes, far more likely to buy additional items.

Yes!!! Crew created with Holo-Me and than just the usual payment. And they should sit right next to us!!!!!
Don't let us die alone Frontier! :(

+1 yes this needs to be done. They could even have specialists who give a pip boost in one chosen field. Level up etc.

Ie. For a cutter, 2 fighter crew and 2 bridge crew

Need to buy a second Xbox for me personally to do said thing

Why would I want to take an NPC crew mate exploring? They'll contribute nothing and just sit there taking a hefty % of anything I earn.

There's many things in exploration that need fixing before that issue gets addressed IMHO.

NPC crews is something literally everyone could use. It could be one of the absolute best features of the game, and IMHO it's what the 2.3 multicrew feature should have focused on first rather than multiplayer crews, which could have come afterwards. If 2.3 had been NPC crews it would have been a huge hit simply due to the fact that it's something everyone can use rather than what we got which hardly anyone uses. Add in some crew building lite-RPG elements and crew abilities and man just think how fantastic it could be for all players, combat and non-combat alike. And just think if you could dress up your crews too, how much Elite Store stuff would Frontier sell then!

So much incredible potential. I Can't fathom why it wasn't the focus of 2.3 rather than what we got, seems to me like a sure fire hit.

This would indeed be cool as cucumber...Im in a type9 about halfway to sag a...biggest canopy in the game and Im all alone in the verse. I even have a crew member who takes a cut already who I never actually get to see...gotta wonder at the logic behind that.

Anyway yes...gets a solid thumbs up from me. Have said more in the past about it, but like just about all the great ideas on the forum, it will be ignored so I type a lot less that I used to ^

I found my co-pilot.

I have a crew member who already takes a cut and I cant see them at all...so why not make them visible? What possible reason would one have fer saying no they dont wanna see NPC crew members if they already bought and paid fer and draw a percentage already?

There are so many who do want this that when someene says no, like you have, it stands out more...seems to be credits is yer only objection along with not drawing dev time to something that just you and a very few others dont see the point of. A great many others do see a point...meself included because credits are all but meaningless anyway ^

What if a crew member could make your DSS scan twice as fast? Same effect as the engineer recipe but without the mass penalty. Or if a crewmember boosted AFMU speed? Or improved fuel scooping time? Or even reduced FSD cooldown times? In addition to the atmosphere of simply having seats on your bridge filled with people, NPC crews could also provide many little passive or active benefits for commanders. Think an engineer like feature but without the material grind and without the Russian Roulette design philosophy.

I do agree that exploration needs many other things first, but NPC crews are something which everyone could use, not just explorers.

Personally I want the crewmen/woman to bring me snacks as I cruise the verse, boost to the ship Meh , in flight snacks for the win
