Lonely...

It's lonely out here...

I know the drill... I know what to expect, but, my goodness, it is so lonely out here...

And there's this one button on the console that screams "The solution to your problem is just one RemLock away!", but I know that is not really a solution. The solution is to carry on, but how to do that when deep down there is this lingering conviction that starting the whole thing was already madness anyway...

My solid base of madness: The [RRS-CO] "Colonia Ocean"

And not even looking back at my finds, nor looking forward to my future rewards does really help to lift this feeling of utter loneliness.

Ah, well...

Yep, and you could also look for a multicrew seat, find someone to chat with. Just do it for the exploration role, not for a combat one like bounty hunting. From my experience, I've been pleasantly surprised by how I could always find someone hosting a seat fairly quickly, and whenever I opened up a seat on my Clipper, I'd always get someone within 5-10 minutes. Haven't done it in the past few weeks though, so this anecdotal "evidence" might be wrong by now. Still, I'd say it's worth a try if you're feeling lonely.

And remember, if you take an unknown artefact with you, you'll never be lonely!

Oh dear, Commander
Are we having a bad day?
Things could be a lot worse - you could be in a Sidey!!!

Fly safely, or your trip may end sooner than you think:D

Indeed, but this helps a lot ;)

[noob] I totally forgot about that list! Thanks for reminding :).

I think another [noob] is fitting right here. How could I forget about the company of an unknown artefact ... (and yeah, multicrew also slipped my mind).

Or you can take a break have a beer, listen to something like Carbon Based Lifeforms & Stellardrone,
and think it over while you scan the next system you find...

lonely wumpus...

If you sit on a planet and listen to the sounds it makes, sometimes it sounds like it's talking to you...

So ronery...

You should go on to the beta test and take part in the community goal. Frontier wants to test their network performance so they've set up a spot on a planet where they want people to go, and you'll see a bunch of other commanders driving SRVs around and see ships flying overhead.

Fear not lonely explorer you are not alone for the stars will keep you company and after awhile they will start to sing too you, "come visit me, me, me" but don't believe the lies of the Neutron star, she's a seducer looking for her next feed who will crush you down to atoms.

I felt the same crossing the northern area of the galaxy, full of beige systems that all looked alike for 15kly no variety, only thing is each jump is closer to where your going you know ;) so even if its 200ly here and 1kly there it all adds up and before you know it your there.

the way I tackle vast areas of space with no points of interest is to limit myself to 3kly per day, and also, land somewhere, find an interesting planetary ring, an asteroid belt and a mountain or canyon, if I do more I will go insane, and looking for stuff keeps it interesting so im not just "travelling"

^^ that said, it works for me and might not work for you, but yes space is lonely, I have been on discord advertising my position and not met a sole for over 200kly :)

just keep at it!

You could always open up a multicrew position in the explore role. Have commanders beam aboard for a chat, or just enjoy the silent company.

I did the same when in my Asp, but I'm in a DBE at the moment, which has no free seats. So I sometimes telepresence onto another explorer's ship when feeling a bit lonely.

[EDIT]Already mentioned by marx.

If we were on at the same times, you could chat me up. You're on my Friends list.

You could do like me: If you're not chatting with someone, then browse the web while you're in FSD! I like to browse Imgur. I can alt-tab back and forth easily. Would be even easier if I had a second monitor ><

:) Thanks, I'll remember that.

I tried the second-monitor-to-do-additional-tasks setup once. I found out that I'm very bad at multi-tasking (and extremely good at sun-diving).
