Long Island Zoo

Welcome to the Long Island Zoo!

This is the thread for my current Planet Zoo project, Long Island Zoo. This zoo is located on Long Island, New York, USA. This is going to be an absolutely huge project, as it will feature every singe animal officially made by Frontier; yes all 116 of them! Now, before people start calling me crazy, I didn't just jump right into the project not knowing what was going to happen. First, I tested and concluded that exhibit animals don't really affect gameplay performance. I had about 60 exhibit animals in an empty map and the FPS was hardly, if not at all, effected. Second, I downloaded some maps from the Steam workshop to test out how many animals, and guests, my PC can handle. That number was around 200-250 with still playable FPS. The number of guests I will keep around 2,000, but I'll see how that goes as I move along. Additionally, I realized that when you go to a zoo in real life, you don't see a herd of even 10 wildebeest, for example, you would maybe see 2 or 3. Going along with that, every single animal is not always on exhibit, so I'm going to be taking animals "off exhibit" (in the trade center) once the zoo gets bigger. Now, you may still be thinking, oh the welfare has to be off, right? Well, you would be wrong! Animal welfare is turned on, but overcrowding, social groups, and I think plant needs are turned off; everything else is on (I litterally just found out that you could disable space requirements while still having welfare like last week lol, what a game changer!). Also, I will be playing on medium graphics preset. I will be posting screenshots after I finish each section; there are 11 sections, some with sub-sections.

October 31, 2021: Zoo Plaza

Welcome to the first section of the zoo, Zoo Plaza. My main inspiration for this area came from the Woodland Park Zoo, in Seattle, Washington, USA. The area has a modern look and almost exclusively uses the new world theme. There are no animals in this section, but has the Zoo Cafe, a gift shop, and information. The area is meant to be modern, welcoming, and clean looking, which I think I pulled off pretty well if I do say so myself. Not much to talk about with this section of the zoo, since there are no habitats, so here are the screenshots...

🎃To everyone who celebrates, Happy Halloween!🦇

Got a very realistic feel to it, looks great! Also cool to see someone post pics with rain, it actually makes it feel even more natural.
Yeah I think the rain looks killer with that wooden texture and steel accent. I think it was already raining when I took the first 2 screenshots, so I just kept it and it looked even better!

November 12, 2021: Reptile & Amphibian Center

Welcome to the next installment of Long Island Zoo, the Reptile & Amphibian Center. This building has four habitat animals and 16 exhibit animals. Not every reptile is represented in this section however, as the Nile Monitor, Aldabra Tortoise, Caiman, and Gharial are in different sections of the zoo. The habitat animals are the Komodo Dragon, Galapagos Tortoise, Alligator, and Crocodile. The exhibit animals are every exhibit amphibian and every exhibit reptile. As you can see, the area has a healthy mix of indoor/outdoor exhibits with the same being said for viewing areas. Here are the screenshots...
