Long range passenger missions shouldn't have been lowered in price

The thought of going 20ly for 30-40 million credits is stupid. The small missions pay out more for your time now. I just don't get what they were thinking removing the larger payouts on the long range missions. If they wanted me to stay away from those good job. It blows my mind how I stop playing and come back to them doing the opposite to the missions to make them worth it. I didn't touch them at 100mil I'm sure as hell not even touching them now. [mad]

Thank all the whingers on the forums for that... and all the other issues we now have with missions and payouts, too.

Seems the missioning system isn't quite as "robust" as FD thought it would be. "Oh we can just change a line or two of code and voila!, right?"

We are being drip-fed content at a snail's pace to accord with the ten-year plan. Credit-earning is in all probability being attempted to be brought into line with the aforesaid drip-feeding policy as well: Cannot have CMDR's earning too much too fast.....we have years to go yet [yesnod] [haha]

Yeah - I confess to getting a little tired of the constant tinkering with pay-outs in this game, there always seems to be something broken, or exploitative, or both, it just never ends.

Yep. The problem isn't the software... it's the nature of the people who interpret what's "fair" and what's not.

Some people will just NEVER be happy no matter how much tinkering you do under the hood.

It looks like there are no coherent rules that determine how (and how much) a player's effort is rewarded. Every time something changes in the game that impacts the reward vs effort ratio, we get these iterations again.

And they have a habit of overlooking exceptional cases (Quince, Robigo, etc).

As a more general comment on passenger mission rewards, I seem to have had a wider range.

So, some have been lower but I've also had a few that have been much higher than I'd ever seen pre-patch.

It may be that the changes are more subtle than we had expected. My hypothesis is that with more data we might find we can exploit the system more effectively and earn more.

Aps.

FD's solution in that case (true BTW...) is to simply do what they want to do, and ignore everyone not part of their organization. Including all of us.

Listening to a herd of cattle going on about what they like/don't like is not a very good business model IMO. Maybe because everyone is so sure that THEIR idea is better than everyone elses? It does make for interesting reading with my morning coffee though.

To FD: Go on about your business, and know that some folks will like the things you do while others will not. And since there's no way to please everyone, don't even waste your time trying. I, like everyone else, will either play with the changes or not. Best of luck.

My beef at the moment, is the literal spamming of the mission boards with long range(20-22kly) passenger missions leaving little room for local passenger missions, this needs to go away now.

Yeah it seems whatever changes they made with the missioning system appear to have created problems elsewhere, either too many of a certain type of mission, ridiculous payout amounts on others (too low, etc.) or too few missions being offered in some situations.

I've been paying close attention to variable types and it's very chaotic now. I get a lot of some types of missions one time, then none at all, then frequently low payouts for some types another time, etc.

Sometimes I just shut the game down and quit playing altogether because of the mission RNG... there should always be at least one type of every kind of mission available, not having to constantly refresh every 15 mins just to pick something up, or having to travel elsewhere just to get a different set.

I really love this game, but I'm starting to be very annoyed with the outlook. I'm so sick and tired of the hyperbole people throw around because they're angry that ED didn't turn out to be "EVE in Cockpits" the way they wanted it to be, so they feel a need to ruin the game for everyone else and throw whatever propaganda they can at the forums in the hope that FD will wreak havoc in the way of patches.

*Lots* of this ^^. Not played since Thursday a.m. as the PS4 Mission/Passenger boards are thoroughly borked but it's no biggie, I'm just giving it a little while to settle down again, and this is the first real break from daily play I've taken in almost 4 months anyway. +Rep for both of you! [smile]

So, dont do them? I took two VIPs to colonia for 20m. Why not? I wanted to go there anyway and the cabin dont take too much of my range.

Yeah, that answer didn't work for the whiners complaining about mission payouts being too high. Instead they ended up screwing up the entire mission system because of said whiners.

Payouts too high? Don't do them, indeed.

My gripe is that apart from the super-low Payment (as low as ~15M for a 44000LY (!!) round-trip), none of the ones I see are Transport (1-way) Missions. Always "Collect Data and return".

So even IF I had to manually fly a Passenger-capable Ship to Colonia or to the Bubble - I'd be stuck in that very Ship and have to return in that very Ship on a deadline (and likely - unscanned due to a Secretive Passenger).
For me that's a total showstopper.

I'm missing
- Transport bulk Passengers to/from Colonia (ordinary people migrating or returning from the area and standard Tourists... would make sense, right?)
- Transport VIPs to/from Colonia

Now those I could drop off and then mind my own business. Change Ships, visit Engineers at the bubble, fly another expensive Rig out to Colonia etc.

There are passenger missions out there that are paying decent. Go to neighboring systems of areas with stations 1 million LS + from the drop point.

With you on this. Round-trip missions to Colonia are a total non-starter. One-way missions, please.

If you stare at this wallpaper long enough, eventually a piece will peel off.
You're welcome.
