Long Story Short

So I tried to buy Horizons a couple of months ago but cards, banks, overseas, whatever. So I set off on an ~55kLY journey a couple of months ago. Today I managed to buy Horizons. For whatever reason, I thought it would be a good idea to try out my new to me features and land on a planet. What have I got to lose? I can fly. So I make a few jumps and then I find the one I want to land on. Checklist mode kicks in. Turn on shields, make sure landing gear still works. Everything seems good. Aim toward planet, getting a bit nervous, enter glide, drop from glide. Damn, I'm about to set down on an actual planet. Pilot mode kicks in and I drop it slow and steady and let gravity finish the job. Perfect landing. I love this game.

BTW, managed to get out of there in one piece as well. Saul Goodman!

Congratulations, Commander! I love my "Elte First Times", they always leave unforgettable memories :)

Oh man that was such a scary story. I thought you were going to say that you crash landed and lost 6 months of data...

Well done on first successful planetfall Cmdr...

Caution: can become addictive especially when searching for elusive materials. Recommend the occasional sanity check - do I really need XX of [insert name of rare material]?

Fly / drive safe..

You did far better than I did. When I went to land the first time I bounced - I'd forgotten about this 'landing gear' thing.

Yeah I thought it was goint to be a horror story.

OP always check the gravity level on the right.

There are some big planets out there and even at 1.0 gravity you should be careful, 2.0 and up can be lethal if you get a bit complacent.
