Long sync times when closing game on Steam

Every time I close the game, the sync takes forever. Anybody else suffer this issue? It's the only game I have that does this. It will show the data transfer rate at like 14k or so.

Hmm I recently have weird pop-ups asking me to synch to computer or steam cloud or something it's also a bit annoying dont know if it's the thing you are referring to though

This sounds like a Steam issue to me as it syncs to and from the Steam cloud system. If the Steam servers are slow to respond that can explain that.

As for the popups, I've only ever had these if Steam or Planet Coaster crashes - the date/time references normally help identify which is the newer version.

Its just saving your localized user data to the Cloud so it can be either retrieved if something goes wrong, or used on another computer with the same steam account.. Handy if like me you switch between computer and laptop. I can keep my settings and data the same between the two.
If you find that to be overly annoying and utterly useless because you have your computer backed up regularly, and loosing all your parks and blueprints are not a concern you can Turn off the Sync option in the Steam / Game Properties...
Although I strongly advise you not to do that for the above reason... If something happens, you loose Everything....

If your upload is slow, the Steam sync will take a little while to sync to SteamCloud. The sync at last check saves anything from the Frontier Developments / Planet Coaster folder within your documents folder. That should be happening in the background however.

Yeah, Fraggle, I know it's saving to the cloud. It's just that it literally will take 5-10 minutes most of the time. I have fast internet. All my other games sync in seconds. It's not really all that big of a deal, just annoying sometimes when I want to shut down and move on, and it's holding me hostage sync'ing.

Had to check.. The size of the game files... tiny.
.
I cant say I see this behavior Every time I quit PC (or start it).
But Its certainly often that Ill get prompted to Sync Before I start the game, or it will Sync when I exit and take more than 2 minutes to complete that Sync.
Ill also note that quitting PC seems to cause Steam to freeze up for about 2 seconds..

I have had occasions when I quit PC and it takes more than overnight to actually close out, which I assume is uploading stuff to Steam. Which is ridiculous given the small size of saved parks and such, even 4x fo the real save and the last 3 autosaves.

I put in a bug report on this and was told to update my drivers. Which were already current.

Wow. Overnight? I've never had that happen. Was playing last night and closed game. Took 12 min to finish sync. I was wanting to shut down my laptop and go to bed. I know it seems petty and impatient, but It annoyed the crap out of me.
Also, I can't see what updating drivers would have anything to do with sync'ing to cloud. Regardless, It's a small thing compared to how great and how much enjoyment I get from the game. Kudos to the devs.
Keep up the great work.

Hey everyone,

The Steam Sync only starts when Planet Coaster has completely quit, and we have no control over this (beyond telling Steam where our save games are on your PC) once the Steam Sync message appears. If you're experiencing slow sync speeds it might be worth raising this with Steam Support.

Cheers

Will do, Andy. Thanks for the quick replies.
