Longer jump range please!!!

Can we increase the basic jump range please. like 2x or 3x Its a huge galaxy and takes way to long to jump to an area you wanna explore. like make a 5A FSD go 100ly laden or something.

What if FDev went back to old jump ranges. What if Thargoids made our current FSD unusable and we have to develop new ones with worse jump range than what we currently have...

Use https://www.spansh.co.uk/plotter to plot your own neutron star route.
You can get to Colonia in little over 100 jumps. And it makes travel fun and challenging.

You can also use a Guardian FSD booster, plus engineering, plus synthesis, to get even more range. (Synthesis doesn't stack with neutron boosts)

Remember you're crossing the galaxy here. Not just nipping down the road.
It's a galaxy. GALAXY.

Dont forget how far 1ly actually is, and you can cover 55-75ly in 30 seconds...
Nothing we have launched is even 1ly away, and it's been flying for around 42 years. Lol

Not necessarily longer jump range but I would like to be able to plot further than 20LY.

I am all in favour of this, and also allow us to save the route. So that when we login the next time, it remember this route instead of having to re-plot it again, and depending on where you are, this can now fail, due to how the plotting algorithm works.

And being able to share routes with each other would be a great addition too.

And lastly, having the ability to manually create a route, this could be very useful for many players, imagine you are doing trading and have found a 4 system trade loop, if you could save this entire loop as a route, with systems and stations and then just follow it,m and since this is saved, you can recall this route later.

I know this would create fully optimized routes to/from Colonia for various jump ranges, that people just could import, but we already have most of this already, it is just a bit more work to use these.

I'd rather they just keep adding more and more interesting discoveries, threats and phenomena (like they did in 3.3, but adding to that with every update) to make travel more varied and interesting. Keep travel times long and expeditions epic undertakings -- we're pioneers crossing the undiscovered country! -- but like pioneers, we should continually be seeing new things for the first time.

I think we should be able to cross the galaxy in one single jump. Insta travel everywhere.
And all ships should cost 100 cr.
I also want a Sidewinder with 500 tonnes of cargo, and an Eagle with a fighter bay.

Just kidding of course.
I definitely do not want this to happen.
The Galaxy is huge and our jump capabilities already have increased dramatically.
It is perfectly fine as it is.

It's fascinating. We started at about 7 LY. Many setups now are over 70LY, so +1000%. There are ways to push it up even further. From what I know, the longest jump a player made in the game by now is 335.94 LY.

Apparently it's still not enough. Would 600000 LY be enough, or would that still be lacking?

I wanted to say sorry for the sarcasm, but actually I am not. We don't need to shrink the galaxy even more.

Why not play with the Neutron superhighway. You can get around 300ly jump range.

You know it takes light itself 150,000 years to get across the galaxy?

This is like if a snail was the typical mode of transport and you were complaining that your Formula 1 Ferrari wasn't fast enough.

OP, you know ED's jumping is already immensely faster than many classic literary sci-fi worlds? If ST: Voyager had the jump drive and fuel scoop, they would be back in the alpha quadrant in less than a few days after the pilot.
For Kirk and crew, a trip to Hutton orbital is nothing but routine for their duty shifts (usually not shown but assumed after the tv commercial breaks or between episodes) navigating cruising at warp 6 or 7 where it takes then a few days to travel to Vulcan from Sol (3 to 5 Ly /day).
And FD already gave a jump boost with the FSD booster..

OP, you obviously don't value what we have now. Back in my day, the best you got in a minmax'd stripped down anaconda was barely 40-45 lyrs. And that was pushing it.

Jump range is equivalent to fast travel in open world games. The faster it expands, the quicker the game world shrinks.

Now: "It's so huuuuuuuuuge, can we cross it in one jump please?"

After: "It's so smaaaaaaaaaaall, make it bigger!"

^Every. Damn. Time.

No more increased jump ranges please. A huge game should remain a huge game.

If you played some of the previous games 100ly jump was attainable in the Turner Class.

Seems we have lost some jump range since the 90's...

PS 100ly jump isn't going to hurt anyone in this 400 billion star galaxy is it...

Wasn't that with a different kind of FSD, based on technology we have "lost"?
