Will it be visible in England and is it safe to look at without eye protection?

Also how long will it last?

And Mars is doing something at the same time i think? Like it is at it's closest point or in conjunction etc?

Anyway be on the watch for aliens!

Thanks. I'm guessing it's... Something else, that demands eye protection? I swear it pops up on the news every few years.
Solar eclipse. Looking directly at the Sun will harm your eyes, even if the Moon happens to be in between - the Moon's not bigh enough to eclipse the corona and usually Solar eclipse is only partial - even a tiny fraction of Sun's disc is too bright to look at without eye protection.

That's the one! You can see why I rarely post here!

Made this photo from my balcony

Great view from Adelaide Hills around 6:30 am CST. I took a few pictures on my phone but quality is pretty bad. They do show the colour though (and you can see Mars and Jupiter).

Total cloud cover here in Yorkshire - quite typical. :)

Same here, Portsmouth.

Clear skies down here on the 45th parallel (Turin), for once. :D
Managed to grab some photos of the Moon progressively moving out of Earth's shadow and a bunch of Mars video for later processing, before a light veil of cloud cover took over and mudded everything. Will see if I can get something out of those data tomorrow after work.

It has been a special sight anyway. :)
