Look guys, I know what's going on here....

There is no way we have the technology to create a game like this. I just don't believe it. I have been thinking and am pretty sure that some aliens put this software out there for us and actually have us exploring and mining for them. Our ships are real life drones that are actually working for these guys. I am guessing they don't want us on atmospheric worlds because a) they don't want us to learn the truth and/or b) it's much harder for our drone ships to enter/exit atmospheres. I am wondering if the new walking around expansion will actually have us controlling robots. Don't be surprised if they have us fighting wars for them too. Looks at the bright side...we may find a REAL alien race out there. Anyhow, I guess the bonus is we have fun doing their bidding :)

You think THIS game isn't possible!?!?!

I used to play Elite II: Frontier on the Amiga. Billions of stars and in many ways the same or similar mechanics as ED. It came on ONE disc. One. Those discs were what, 1.4mb or something?

This is clearly some form of manipulative voodoo or mass halucination.
Even less, it was 640k. The amiga didn't have a high-density floppy drive.

720k for a standard density drive...

...dagnammit - I'm an anorak!

Back to the main point:
In the shower yesterday I was thinking planck units are the bits to our simulated reality.
I like your thinking - and the speed of light - stack overflow.

Ender's game - perfect for this thread - +1

Its just a pity about the ~1300 years lag between CMDR's inputting commands and the drones executing them.
