Lookin for outfitting is really frustrating.

First off, I really like this game. Let's get that out of the way.

However, looking for outfitting products in this game is massively frustrating. I have a pimped out Eagle. As you know, with the Eagle, you have to conserve power as much as possible, especially with weaponry. As it stands, I have two gimbaled pulse lasers and one gimbaled multi-cannon. After using the gimbaled pulse lasers, I've found that I don't really care for them as tracking is frequently an issue and they just refuse to fire at closer ranges sometimes.

I want to replace them with standard pulse lasers. The problem? I've been searching across many systems just to find a standard PULSE LASER!?! and have yet to find one. Many stations have nothing but Mine Launchers and Torpedo Launchers?!!? I'm close to SOL and even the wealthiest place in the galaxy didn't have a single pulse laser. Any one you find is either gimbaled or turreted.

I'm OK with credit grinding, but this endless pursuit of a stinking Pulse Laser is RIDICULOUS. Every station should have them. Or at least, let us buy some data on where we can find weapons and upgrades in my area.

I would be willing to pay 5,000 credits to have outfitting market data for a 30LY radius around my current location. I'm so frustrated right now I don't even want to boot the game up.

I really don't have much to complain about in this game, but this is about to drive me insane.

You're searching for something that doesn't exist.

That's not how the weapon rating system works. The letters are used to compare against all other weapons, not different tiers of the same weapon.

For example, let's say a Class 1 Fixed Pulse Laser is rated F. There is no E, D, C, B, or A rated Class 1 Fixed Pulse Laser. It will always be rated as a F.

Now compare that to a Class 1 Gimbal Pulse Laser, rated G, because it does less damage than fixed. All Class 1 Gimbal Pulse Lasers are rated G.

A Class 2 Gimbal Beam Laser is rated D. It's much more powerful compared to the F or G rated weapons. All Class 2 Gimbal Beam Lasers are rated D.

That's how the letter designation works for weapons. It's used to compare the effectiveness between all other weapons.

If you want to use better weapons, you have to get bigger ships which can load Class 2, Class 3, and so on.

Every station does have the Eagle pulse lasers, in my experience. There's basically only one you can get, for each type.

Hmmmm, according to my observations (I'll have to pay closer attention next time I'm in there) that doesn't sound right. I also found the following from the official game manual, that seems to make it sound like having a B3 laser is better than having a C3 laser.

All modules have a class indicating their size, and a rating, indicating their effectiveness.
Class: This is rated from 1 to 8. Size 1 modules are the smallest, size 8 modules are the
largest. Each ship has a number of module compartments of varying sizes which can be fitted
with modules.
You can fit a module of a smaller class into a compartment.
In general, larger modules are heavier. It is important to take mass into account; the heavier a
ship, the more strain is placed on its drives and frame shift drive, reducing their effectiveness.
Ratings: Modules are rated using an alphabet system, where “A” is most effective overall.
Note that this rating is only a guide; some modules feature benefits that are not taken into
account by the rating.

It is right, though.

There's no such thing as a B3 pulse, for example.

Weapons are different to all other module types. You cannot get any better pulse/beam/m-cannon for an Eagle than the ones you see in every outfitting shop. To get better versions you must get a larger slot size.

Generally speaking, weapons only go off the size, rather than the class. G1, F1, E1, D2, C3, B4, A5.

I get all of mine from the shopping centre here in Sicily. There are a few good stores like Massimo Dutti and Tony Moratti that are fantas... oh you said outfitTING... sorry.

I don't know how you've been unable to find a small fixed pulse laser, have you tried more than two stations? They're everywhere! High Tech and Industrial systems are most likely to stock them, but I've generally found 75% of the stations I outfit at (so I guess 75% of High Tech/Industrial) have had them.

Now class 3 weapons on the other hand...

I found that the Eagle was better suited with the gimballed weapon on top and fixed underneath.
Try 2 fixed multicannons underneath and a gimballed laser on top
You could buy turreted lasers and set them to forward fire only

Turreted have worse damage output though.

I think a few of you have misunderstood what I'm trying to find. I'm not looking for a better pulse laser, just the plain older starting kind. I've checked over 10 stations, in and around SOL and have yet to find a lowly little starter fixed pulse laser.

My gimbals are failing in combat I need the fixed kind. I think it might be a bug because I get the little warning triangle in the upper right when they fail, but there is no message to go with it. I'm sure it's not power related because the guns look ready to go (fully charged) but when I pull the trigger at closer range I get nothing. They are tracking just not firing until the target get some distance away. Anyway I know the fixed guns won't do this. I just need to find them!!

UPDATE: I think I found the point of confusion. I wrote G pulse laser in the OP and it meant to be short for gimbaled, not G class. It has been fixed.

Ok that is strange, since I see the class 1 fixed pulse lasers literally everywhere. They're in every outfitting station I've ever looked at as far as I recall.

Chemaku system, both Crampton and Kaku stations have pretty much everything between them, so if you're near there give that a try.

Class 1 fixed pulse are super common though, so I don't know how you've been so unfortunate.

Good luck!
