Looking Ahead: The Future of the 'Genetic Modification' System

Let's get our heads around to this now. Where do you guys see the gene system going?

I'm looking at copy/paste dinosaurs that came out of the box with bare minimum A.I. at the moment. Grouping and Sleeping are nice recent additions, but those areas could still use some more advanced work (like making 'Sleep' a Need after 'Hunger' and 'Thirst' have been satisfied, plus longer duration). Other than that, I'm looking at Hadrosaurs and Pachycephalosaurs that have no way of defending themselves from even small carnivores such as Troodon.

So, I'm dreading the potential money milking of the 'genetic modification' system. I've grown increasingly more cynical about the development of this game within the past month (which there was none of prior to that, I was being a patient puppy). We've seen that the devs don't have boundaries even when it comes to charging more for recognition mechanics for your dinosaurs. And there's lots more opportunity there if we look at what's still lacking if someone is expecting something like having an Edmontosaurus being able to defend itself.

'FREE' updates are cool and all, and I appreciate that effort. But, they are really just a nice attention-diverting massage to condition and prep you for something like eventually paying for:

- Herbivore Defense Gene 1.0, 3.0

I'll say this. There is just ONE gene that I'll gladly pay for. And that's a 'Y Chromosome' gene, so that certain select species can have male counterparts, like in the films. Complete with some model tweaks and distinguishable vocalizations. I really hope that happens some day. [smile]

And I'll leave with some optimism: Happy Update 1.6 Day. Hope you all enjoy the new stuff!
