Powerplay Looking at starting Power Play.... a few questions.

Looking at starting power play (reviewed the guides etc. but have a few questions.)
1. What is the fastest way to earn merits? hauling cargo for the faction or combat ?
2. Once the weapons are unlocked do they remain unlocked even if you leave the faction?
3. I know the merits will be reduced by 50% each week, but say I earn 5000 merits the first week, do I need to remain active for the next 3 weeks to unlock the weapons (i.e. a long as I maintain the rank required) to I need to remain active?

1: as a beginner (depending on credits / ships held) its faster and cheaper to undermine. Your power should have a plan so check with that so that you are helping and not hindering.

2: no. You have to do a month and be rank 3 to unlock, but after that you have to be at rank 3 each week to keep them unlocked- in reality this is a trivial amount if you want to stick with the power. If you are module shopping then buy several modules before moving as once you move you cannot get that module unless you pledge again and repeat the process.

3: if you intend to shop, do nothing for 3 weeks and on the last week earn 750 merits (remember to hand them in though). As long as you have 750 merits after a month then its all good, really.

Thanks for the response....Credits / Ships are not an issue All are fully A kitted and Engineered.
All I am intending to do, is unlock the modules I want (Of course I will help the faction while doing it) but not planning on hanging around once it's unlocked.
 
If you just want to module shop and are filthy rich you can just buy a throwaway t9, do one haul of pp cargo from the home system to closest control system in solo on week 3 day 6. i consider this quicker (albeit more mind numbing) than the pew pew pew suggestion, the only drawback is you have to press the stupid refill my PP cargo buttons 75x4 times. compared to engr grinds though it is nothing

this will have an effect of zero on the PP people doing the PP things because that system will always be fully forted, and is quick and lazy and easy for you

you say "of course you will help the faction" but actual help involves a ton of effort and communication. i tried for 2 months and gave up. anyway, pick what works best for you, just putting another option out there, and if you can be a good PP citizen without losing your mind more power to you o7

Pretty much all powers organise their communities on discord nowadays. You will find lots of advice, friends, and learn all about PP on these discords. Makes the game very much more involving :)
