Ships Looking for a Combat/Trading Build

Hi! Just got upgraded from my Cobra MKIII to an ASP Explorer! Atm its the base explorer with no modded modules or parts. I'm trying to look for a build that is mostly geared at combat but can also carry a decent amount of cargo if desired

Why not avoid combat and boost your way out. Saves more room for better FSD range and time spent trying to fight at risking loosing your cargo for trading. Asp's are excellent for playing rabbit and quickly removing themselves from danger from hostile ships...

Cause I like dogfighting :)

Not sure this ship has much build trickiness to it.

Most important things IMHO are:
- Class A distributor (as always)
- Class A thrusters (the handling of this ship goes from "I wish I wasn't fighting in this" to "most ships can't shake me" when you go from D to A)
- Class 5A shields and a class 6 passenger / cargo compartment (if you want to trade more and fight one on one) *or* Class 6A/6C biweave shields (if combat is your primary focus).

I'd say the only real choice is whether you want stronger shields and less cargo or weaker shields and more cargo. Class 5CDE shields aren't going to cut it; you'll want to be at least at 5A shields since this ship has so little hull. Weapons loadout is up to you, this ship isn't really power limited in most configurations. 2 Med gimballed pulses up top and 2 small gimballed multis on the hard points under the nose will take care of most things. You could run fixed weapons under the nose as well since those are really well situated hard points.

FWIW I've been having a great time running with 5A shields and doing a combo of passenger missions, trade missions for navy rank and whatever combat comes my way. It's not a world-beater but it's fun to fly and the 30+ ly jump distance is downright addictive.
