Looking for a game like Gothic

Hey peeps,
as the title states I`m looking for
Open world RPGs that are simmilar to the Gothic Series (1, 2, 3)
I`m played Risen 1 & 2.
Didn`t like Skyrim.
I`m thinking about Dragon's Dogma?
Any other suggestions are welcome.

I played the Gothic series and enjoyed them very much at the time. Also Two Worlds which was a great, but flawed, game.

Skyrim never grabbed me much either, although I loved Morrowind, and liked Oblivion.

I'd strongly recommend Witcher 3. IMHO it's the best of this genre yet made. Great stories, well designed. It has a sense of humour and at times is quite moving. It's on sale on Steam at the moment for $50, which includes the base game plus the 2 DLCs. DLC 1 is good, DLC 2 is amazing - almost doubles the content of the base game.

Witcher 3 is exceptional - also insanely large. You could probably spend the rest of your life playing it. Bloodlust Shadowhunter is another option - an underrated Vampire:Bloodlines styled indie that's a lot of fun.

Took me a long time to get into Witcher 3 but now after countless of hours, I really see the game as one of the best of this century. Definitely not *the* best, but it's up there among the top 10.

Skyrim entered my life when things got really bad so I have a very strong emotional connection to Skyrim. Plus it pushed me in the PC gaming direction. Aka the right direction. xD

World of Warcraft has a lot of interesting lore if you really dive into it. And it can be quite addictive to play. Almost intoxicating.

take "Nehrim".
It's based on the Oblivion engine but has -nothing- to do with it.
I played Gothic 1/2/3, Risen 1/2 myself and I can promise that you will love Nehrim.
It's the same fun level - possibly higher (my opinion : it is a higher level - only Gothic 1 was the same)

Unsurprisingly, looks like it's German too...just like Gothic :)
Gotta look into this.
I could not find anything quite like Gothic 1/2 over the years though.

The makers of Nehrim, just released their total conversion for skyrim Enderal.
Fully voiced in german and english with some professional voice actors in it.

Warning german voice over english subbtitles.

End of july will be the english release.

Aahhhhh! I'd forgotten about Enderal - time to install Skyrim again. :)

And 'Bloodlust Shadowhunters' looks insanely cheesy, but has got good reviews... ponder...

Gothic 3 is good RPG. My favourite is Gothic 2.
Anyway I've played many fantasy RPGs. If I'd to choose game reminding Gothic 3, it would be Risen 2 and Two Worlds.

Would definitely recommend the Witcher 3. Dark, violent and so dense. I completed the main story a couple of months ago, took me close to a year, as i had to move onto other games because I was playing nothing but that.

Dragons Dogma is solid and looked a very big game. My only issue was that it was very 'game-y', much like the Fable series.

I recently picked up all three Risen games in Humble Bundle sale and I'm led to believe they're very.. interesting.

The first part is actually okayish... until about halfway through the game. Then it just feels rushed, you have the main quest and not much else todo in the world. And it culminates in one of the worst boss-fights of all times. No matter how you skilled your characters (melee/ranged, magic etc), you must use a predefined set of armour and weapon which maxes your required stats. The battle itself then is a completely different game than the rest, it feels more like some action game with completely different game mechanics, never before and after encountered. In essential, nothing to do with the game before said battle.

Ah, that may be something I leave playing until I'm literally out of ideas then. Besides that, I'm pretty much obsessed with Pillars of Eternity, in terms of my 'go to' RPG at the moment!

Thought I'd wonder past this thread again and give a thumbs up to Enderal. Great mod! It still (1.1.0.8) has some English needing translating from the German, some expected, ropey voice acting and the usual Skyrim/Bethesda engine instabilities), but the land itself and questlines are interesting, with some good use of the engine scripting (e.g. observation of wildlife behaviour playing a part in a quest).

I have the XBox 360 version and the constant repeated phrases drive ya insane, every time you pass a point they have to utter the same phrase over and over again its daft.
